I always think of this question when I am not at home to open my copy of Black House and read the end. So, I am not at home now either, but I need to ask this question.

The end of Black House found Jack unable to continue on in his home world. He was told that he would be needed or something like that in the future. I always thought we'd see Jack again in one or more of the final dark Tower books, but we didn't.

Did SK intend to have Jack appear in the Dark Tower saga, and if he did, was there ever an explanation given as to why he didn't?

Or is there another jack Sawyer story to be told?

Stephen and Peter Straub still plan to write the third book in this series but so far have just not been able to coordinate their schedules to do the writing.

Shall I contact Mr. Straub's secretary and see what his calendar looks like for 2015? Maybe stalk him a little on Twitter?? Huh huh huh huh huh???
:eagerness::excitement:
Wouldn't help much--I know what Steve's calendar is like for the next couple of years and it's not going to happen without a major shift in the timetables for what he has coming up. :smile2:

Damn!
Well, I will die a happy woman anyway when that third and final installment is published.
I hope there's a wolflet in the third and that Lily Cavanaugh makes a (ghostly) appearance.

"The business of the Tower is moving towards it's climax. I believe Jack sawyer may have a part to play in that, though I can't say for sure." - Parkus

Well, it looks like Jack was never a guarantee for the Tower books. I had hoped he would appear, as he was always one of my favorite SK characters, especially in The Talisman. It is good to hear that he is to make an appearance in a future work.

I did, too! He was such a great, loveable brute, a total lovebug in his enthusiastic nerdiness.

And I also hope there's someone kindasorta like Henry Leyden. A cooler-than-cool long-lost brother or cousin.
I love The Talisman so much. I've read it at least five times, and just started it again today. Black House wasn't as much to my taste, but I liked it okay. Joe Hill's NOS4A2 reminded me of it, in parts. Maybe it was just tone or something.

I heard this from Peter Straub's gardeners' second cousins ornithologist. During one of Jack Sawyers travels from world to world he will pick up a certain horn and leave it in a certain place. Roland will come across it and then it'll be Roland's last trip up the Tower. Balance will ensue, and this will usher in 2,000 years of peace and prosperity on all levels of the Tower. Boom! ;;D
