Because of our family business, we get a lot of unsolicited items sent to us, both from fans and companies sending samples, people who want their products featured in a video or just trying to increase their brand awareness. Toys, candy, clothing, jewelry, you name it.

It can quickly get out of control if we don't stay ahead of it, we are constantly donating these items to a variety of charitable causes in the area. We also have a large closet full of fan mail that is starting to overflow.

This had me wondering, since Steve is probably about a hundred thousand times more famous than our YouTube channel: what the heck does he do with all the stuff that gets sent to him? I would think that opening unsolicited packages and letters would take up quite a bit of his staff's time. Is there a storage warehouse in Maine somewhere, full of this kind of stuff?

Our office is the entire building and there is a huge warehouse area at one end as well as another building although that's used for other equipment. We mostly get books and occasionally CDs and DVDs. For the books, we hold them until Steve has a chance to come to the office. He'll take ones that grab his attention and the rest of them we pack up for donation to the Troop Greeters. This is an organization that welcomes all military flights that stop over at Bangor International Airport. They put them out for service men/women to take or just read while they're waiting. Sometimes Steve will take the CDs or DVDs with him but otherwise they are stored in his office.

Every so often a company that's been mentioned in a book will send their product as a thank you if they've become aware of it. We pass on the products sent as thank yous to Steve.

We don't keep the majority of the fan mail as that would have taken over decades ago. The only fan mail we keep is that from people who we might have problems with later on. Having the paper trail can be helpful.

'Other equipment'? What the heck is that? Steve only needs a pc to type on. Unless you need the storage for those wood chippers........:eyebrow::highly_amused:

You saw the Indiana Jones movie? That was Stephen's Warehouse. And yes, The Ark of the Covenant is in there somewhere.

Wow, that's great! Thanks for such a thorough response! Yes I know what you mean about keeping a paper trail, unfortunately...

UHOH...:sneaky:

Seriously it is a sad reflection on society that you have to do so.

Also if Mr King ever needs someone to look after any properties in he may purchase in near future in central NC give me a buzz. Real good at running "other equipment".
