Looking to purchase gunslinger. Stephen king collector has it priced it at 650 to 750. On ebay people r asking 1000, 1200, 1600, 1850. These r all the regular 1st edition with 10k copies. Week after week they don't sell but prices stay way up. Is the website wrong or r these people just trying to rip someone off who doesn't know any better.

It all depends on condition. If the book and dust jacket are F/F, a price in the $1000 range is justified. If the book and dj are in good condition, a price in the $650-750 range is proper. The biggest thing is that there are a lot of people out there who want the first/first Gunslinger and even with 10,000 copies, it still commands the premium.

Unless it's signed... You could always contact the seller and try to negotiate a lower price. But make sure it is in Fine condition if you decide to pay that much.

Did you try Bett's Books or Abebooks? The second edition is just as rare but half the price if you don't want to spend quite that much.
