I just checked the freezer and it appears we’re out of them, wow is me.It’s 4am and I just woke up and I’m craving French toast sticks
You're not alone. It's quite common to have a craving for sweets after giving up drinking but perhaps yours is focused on chocolate. It's funny, I stopped drinking four years ago and since then I've become a chocolate fanatic, didn't care for the stuff before that, never had deserts if we were out for a meal, didn't snack on sweets, now...I'll fight someone for the last chocolate in the box
It is too easy - take a couple of eggs and beat them well in a bowl with a fork.I just checked the freezer and it appears we’re out of them, wow is me.
I’ve helped my mom bake cakes before, but the most fancy thing I know how to make myself is microwaveable popcorn. Also please note It was 4am and that I was the only one awake. It is too easy - take a couple of eggs and beat them well in a bowl with a fork.
Add a wee splash of milk (maybe a tablespoon or two) Then take a slice of white bread and soak it in the egg mixture. (Actually I normally do this after the pan has heated up a bit).
While you are beating the eggs, heat up a frying pan on the stove, add a bit of butter or margarine then fry that bread and egg mixture on medium heat. Let the one side cook, then flip it over. If you like you can sprinkle it with cinnamon and sugar while it is cooking.
Serve hot on a plate with either maple syrup or anything else you like (jam, apple sauce - you name it)
Will most likely taste much better than any frozen French toast sticks you can buy at the store.
Good luck!
Here's a video - he makes it slightly different than me - adding in 1/4 cup of sugar but I don't like mine that sweet
p.s. He also uses a mix of oil and butter - you could do that too to avoid any chance of the butter burning.
That's the best time to make French toast!I’ve helped my mom bake cakes before, but the most fancy thing I know how to make myself is microwaveable popcorn. Also please note It was 4am and that I was the only one awake.
You can make a double batch and freeze half. Then simply reheat in micro. Fresh is best, but when the craving hits, it's a quick fix. That's the best time to make French toast!
