Reality TV Shows...
Making untalented people "Celebs!" ??!?
And further, THE STANDING OVATION! Can anyone recall that once an entertainer had to do some sort of show stopper, or be in their 90's & everyone assumed they were dead to get a standing ovation? Now, if say, that horses' ass Drew Carey or Steve Harvey, or g-d forbid that lardass non entity Kevin James saunters out mugging a face, the crowd hops to their feet like Pavlov's dog and begins slapping their extremities together like Groucho Marx just came back from the dead! Are we that desperate as a society that we have to feed every moron who's done a sitcom's ego just because we've had the mere glimpse of them? It demeans us, they are undeserving of it. I'm a devotee of the Gilbert Gottfried podcast. And g-d help me, if I'm ever in a studio audience and he walks out, it'll be a hard task, but I won't give him a standing O! But anyway, he had a guy on his podcast who worked on a show called "Hollywood Palace" in the 60's. He said it was on for about a decade, and during it's run two people who performed got a standing ovation. Jimmy Durante, and Sammy Davis Jr! He said Sammy Davis appeared twice and got one both times. Jezus. I wonder how Kevin James would have fared back then?
