Reality TV Shows...

Making untalented people "Celebs!" ??!?

And further, THE STANDING OVATION! Can anyone recall that once an entertainer had to do some sort of show stopper, or be in their 90's & everyone assumed they were dead to get a standing ovation? Now, if say, that horses' ass Drew Carey or Steve Harvey, or g-d forbid that lardass non entity Kevin James saunters out mugging a face, the crowd hops to their feet like Pavlov's dog and begins slapping their extremities together like Groucho Marx just came back from the dead! Are we that desperate as a society that we have to feed every moron who's done a sitcom's ego just because we've had the mere glimpse of them? It demeans us, they are undeserving of it. I'm a devotee of the Gilbert Gottfried podcast. And g-d help me, if I'm ever in a studio audience and he walks out, it'll be a hard task, but I won't give him a standing O! But anyway, he had a guy on his podcast who worked on a show called "Hollywood Palace" in the 60's. He said it was on for about a decade, and during it's run two people who performed got a standing ovation. Jimmy Durante, and Sammy Davis Jr! He said Sammy Davis appeared twice and got one both times. Jezus. I wonder how Kevin James would have fared back then?

There's a girl at work, that I do not know well but I pass occasionally in the halls, who, me being an idiot, I feel on our infrequent encounters compelled to concoct some sort of witism. Just to be charming and keep the day moving. Gosh! Nothing untoward. Nothing weird! Anyways, I said my most recent one today! I've had a punishing friggin hard 6 day 60 plus hour week, but as best as I can recall I said, "Hey! it's snowin'! you ought to get you one of them bla bla bla bla bla blas!" I don't really know what the crap I said. I'm friggin tired! She replied, "I know, right?!!" With a big pretty grin! She says the same thing every time I speak to her! Now I'm starting to wonder, is she even listening to me?!!!! If not, I wouldn't incarcerate her, but she should get some sort of verbal warning.
I know, right?!!! ;;D

Or people who like their own posts. Um, yeah, we got that you liked it when you freakin' posted it! :D

LOL! I have a fb friend who was an actress in the 70's, who I managed to track down because she was in a movie that made a big impression on me as a kid, and we've friended -- and she does it all the time! I guess it gives you a one up on everybody.

Maybe she just wants to get the ball rolling...

Or depending on how old she was in the 70s, maybe she's starting to lose it? :waaaht:

Not even the well-trod over not using turn signals, but someone who slows nearly to a stop suddenly in front of you, turning and putting on their signal only just as they do it ... a real horse-already-out-of-the-barn moment.....
