I started reading King a year ago and was wondering if there are any important books to read before starting "The Dark Tower" books. I have read these books so far in following order; Christine, IT, Misery, The Shining, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, 'Salems' Lot, and I am nearing the end of "The Stand (Uncut)".
I absolutely love his books and am extremely interested in the way they all connect to each other. Is there any books that would be good to read before starting the Dark Tower series?
(No Spoilers, please)

Personally I would read Insomnia and Hearts in Atlantis before The Dark Tower series.

This map shows other books related to the series, some are more obscure references, the two books above would be the more important IMO. (I would also add 'Salem's Lot, but you've already read this one)

I don't think it really matters but that's just my personal opinion. The first one I read was The Wind Through the Keyhole before I even knew anything about the Dark Tower series.

I realize that is unconventional but I did enjoy TWTTK as a stand alone book.
