Favourite protagonist: tie between Roland Deschain and Stu Redman.

Favourite villain: tie between Randall Flagg and Pennywise the-goddamn-reason-I-still-hate-walking-past-sewers-or-gutters Clown.

LOL! Whenever I walk past one of those large curbside gutters, I look to make sure there isn't a clown inside too :) And the knowledge that I will never see a clown inside does not stop me from checking it out. SK has warped my mind lol.

My first favorite SK character was Nick Andros and he still retains that position.

He has been joined by others, though:
Tommy Ross.
Hall (from Graveyard Shift).
Mark Petrie.
Henry Bowers.
Richie Tozier.
Larry Underwood.
Leo Rockway.
Trashcan Man.
Percy Wetmore.
Jordan (from Cell).
Jack Cantori.
Joe McClatchey (and Joe McAlister, and Colin Ford).
Dale Barbara (and Mike Vogel). :heheh: :chew:

And I know this list looks definitely one-sided to the male side.

I think this may be because a group of them are people I identify with (male geek, mostly, although even Larry Underwood ends up in that category, due to some personality traits), another group are guys who are simply perfect in every way, which makes them very attractive to me (Tommy Ross and Jack Cantori). A third group are the guys who are very different from me and have things I would like to have (Richie Tozier and Dale Barbara; and Mike Vogel).

Nick Andros, to the level that when I heard that the mini-series was being made and that Rob Lowe had been cast as Nick, I had a hissy fit. Turns out that he did a great job of embodying Nick and I was pleased with all of the casting except Randall Flagg. I don't know who I would rather have had, but Jamey Sheridan just didn't seem dark enough, though he was plenty scary in the role. Meh. Just one person's opinion. BTW, The Stand is my all time favorite book of Mr. King's many titles.
