No, I'm just being silly. Maybe Ms. Mod knows why he chose Mercedes. Maybe it's his favorite car. I guess I would include a Porsche 911 Carrera if I wrote a book.
Oh that's interesting. Why the Porsche 911 Carrera? What kind of book or story would that be? I found a number of novels naming Mercedes in their title. I found one (German) novel with the brand name Porsche in its title. But the car played actually only a minor role. The (male) narrator used the brand name mainly as a nickname for his favorite part of the body :)

Welcome Does it really matter to you?
Well, yes, it does. And I think it matters with regard to the story as well. Don't you think the story would have a different outcome if King had used a different car? It's a detective novel. A detective's job is to "read" the signs left by the perk uh perp (first of all identify which is a sign and which is not) and draw his conclusions. Different signs lead to different conclusions and subsequent actions. So the story could have been different with a different vehicle. And the very same process applies to the reader as well; therefore, yes, it matters to me.

Now I finally know why King used an impossible(?) Mercedes: It was the only car appropriate for the story.
