Hey watching Carrie on amc and wondering why king chose pigs blood? any answer
Found this on the internet:

"Why does it have to be pig's blood?
Pig is a symbol of sloth and greed. Muslims see pigs as unclean, haram creatures (haram means forbidden by Allah). So, pig symbolizes dirtiness and disgust."

I dunno - I think they were just sticking to the original book in which two pigs are killed. You'd have to ask Stephen King why he chose to include this in his book.

What a book and really well done screen adaptation! I remember being a kid and one of the older kids gave me a description of the entire movie - from the tampon throwing to the hand coming up out of the grave. It was terrifying and I was hooked.

Pig's blood - why not? It had to be something truly disgusting, but not something like human blood. And I think it had to be blood because she was so picked on by the shower scene with the blood. Poor Carrie.

Never really thought about why pork was forbidden in Islam, interesting.
