I promise, I'll do it. I've got some friends from work that are going tonite, but I couldn't go because I have to drag my happy butt up at 5am in the morning! Even ten years ago -- no five! -- I'd have said screw it & went, but those days are getting fewer & farther between. When did stupid sleep become so important? A couple I know went to see it last nite. She liked it, but was a little disappointed. She didn't think it lived up to the previews. But she thought it was better than the original. Haven't talked to the guy yet. He's the horror fan. She says if they watch something at home he always falls asleep & leaves her alone to be terrified. :) One girl at work was on the fence about going, but says she scares too easily and finally decided no. I told her Natalie, the microwave in our break room is a lot scarier than anything you're going to see in the theater. Sh!t. Why didn't I just go?

I'm booked in for tonight, but now I'm wondering if it was a bad idea. I can't get my mind off H. Irma and she will be beginning to pass over FL when I'm out tonight.

Flakes- just go and enjoy yourself. Take your mind off of the worries that you have and DON'T feel guilty about it either!!

My mom and sister are going this afternoon. I can't wait to hear what they think!

I told my mom yesterday that all my friends here at the board who have seen it have really liked it. That it was pretty much agreed upon by everyone that it is a great movie. :)

Locked in date night for me next Saturday...dinner and IT. :applause:

I have no one to go with, so won't be seeing it...........I mean IT.
I'm thinking of going by myself - It's okay

IT is apparently more than just okay - IT sounds like a real winner (nice to hear that it was well adapted this time around)

Maybe I'll drag along my son and his GF (although they haven't read the book)

nothing against you not wanting a crowd, but i hope the crowds aren't minimal next week, i want this movie to be a blowout on earnings lol. maybe matinees though.
Hi recitador, You make a good point about sales...it don't count 'less it sells. Hopefully someone on the site knows this...Does Mr. King make any money on the amount of tickets sold? Maybe once you sell the rights they're gone, or maybe it's a negotiated thing. Hopefully someone has some insight. All the best, mal.

I just got home from seeing it and I had a great time. Going into it I knew things would be truncated, omitted, altered, and completely changed so I had an open mind. It wasn't as scary as I'd hoped but this is a minor issue, for me, because I don't think the book is all that scary. In 1989 I was the exact age as The Losers and, to my surprise, it made the experience that much better. The ending was perfect. Perfect.
The second chapter can't arrive soon enough.

Big screen a resounding yes.... need for the rest of the audience... meh. :) Color me anti-social. If I could have purchased the digital HD copy already I would have projected it on my big screen at home. ;) And to those people visiting Bangor/Derry next year, we will watch a marathon of the best of King's movies here at my place on a theater screen (I believe my screen is right about 300" so there will be no loss in the experience) and overlooking the Barrens themselves. My liking of going to a public theater has diminished over there years with the cleanliness and manners of those around me. Some people don't shower enough. Some people play with their damn phones. Some people talk loudly and rudely. It is what it is. My wife and I sit front row center (and that is how we saw It this weekend) and that helps mitigate how many people are around you. I know; I'm a snob.

We watched in IMAX and... I'm so glad it lived up to my expectations. I'm notoriously finicky with my horror movies and honestly haven't seen anything that truly frightened me that was labeled "horror". I get more chills from psychological terrors, personally, so this film was golden for me.

I LOVED THE ATMOSPHERE. Okay, I LOVED pretty much every friggin' second of the movie, and my kids and their friends thought I was nuts because I was literally grinning from ear to ear from start to finish. Skarsgard was amazing. The kids were amazing. The adults were amazing. Assdfghjklifcbjhfvn! There was one scene that I found more funny than scary (that's because it caught me off guard and I'm telling you I react weird to horror flicks) but my 15 year old son squealed like a girl.

All in all, we had a great time, popcorn was spilled, laughs were had, and there were tears, (lots from me). And no, it didn't follow the book scene for scene, but it kept the tone and feel of the book so marvelously that I didn't care one bit. I think growing up in the 80s/90s made this version of IT feel nostalgic and almost like my own childhood in a way that was comforting, while still being unnerving, (given the subject matter). I definitely recommend going to see IT on the big screen!!

I found that many people laughed during certain scenes that weren't objectively funny, but this is pretty common during horror movies that are pushing the envelope. I don't mind it, people are uncomfortable and they laugh sometimes to cover the discomfort. It would be weirder if everyone constantly screamed during the movie!
That happened in the cinema that I saw IT in. (yes okay, it was me...)
Also, I found that people (strangers) were chatting with each other quite animatedly before the movie, I think the nervousness brought that out in us. (again me... which is unusual because I'm pretty shy IRL with strangers)
This is quite different to other movies I've been to at the same cinema.
