Will you continue Hulu?

Can you believe I got Hulu just for 11/22/63 and have not watched a thing yet? I've got to sit down and watch the series. I'll keep it on for a while. Watching TV on my computer is not fun, but I think I can plug my laptop into my TV, can't I? Or maybe the bedroom TV is smart? I'll have to ask the kids to hook me up. But yes, I'm sure I'll keep it until my card expires and it doesn't auto-renew.

I may keep it based on Night Gallery alone! So much catching up to do. I too opted for the commercial free version, for an extra $48 per year that's definitely worthwhile.

Yes!!!! We were ecstatic to find Night Gallery available. Lots of old shows we loved are on it, too. Even silly ones like Lost In Space. We are absolutely staying with it. With Amazon Prime and Chromecast, we can watch almost anything. And it's so much cheaper than cable. We still have Internet through our cable carrier so we even still have local and some cable channels in SD. So we can still watch the local news or TBS or a few others.

Dang, that's lucky! We have internet through our cable company, but no TV cable, and most channels that stream online require that you have cable TV to watch the shows online. If we want to watch local news, etc, we have to get an antenna.

If your TV or DVD or Blu Ray player has a USB input, you can watch Hulu through a Chromecast, which are available (used but fully working) for only $20 on Groupon right now!

On a sideways(UK)-related note, we have Sky (satellite, though it's also available (mostly) through cable). We also have Netflix and Amazon Prime subs. We're about to ditch Sky in favour of a streaming service called NowTV. It's still offered and operated by Sky, oddly enough, but it costs around £6.99 a month for channels including Fox and Sky Atlantic (mostly US imports, hence the name) instead of a minimum of £22-23. OK, it'd mean we lose channels like Nat Geo, Discovery, et al, but tbh they aren't a patch on what they used to be anymore. The main thing is that we can still get all the things we like, and since 11.22.63 is airing on Fox over here...it's a no-brainer.
Problem is, trying to cancel is like trying to keep hold of a greased eel. It's 'how about if we put you on this deal?' and 'would you consider this offer?', and they don't like it if you just shout at them or go 'No! Now just f****** cancel it!'

Agreed. I remember when we dumped cable, it was about a half hour on the phone with 'offers' before I got fed up and told them to make the change right then or I would be dumping them entirely (we still have internet through them) and going with another company. Off the phone in less than a minute--lol.

We used to get our phone service and Internet through Sky, too, but when we moved my gf switched them to EE (as advertised by one Kevin Bacon over here) so there's no similar leverage there. All we can do is give it the old 'Well, we're going to instruct the bank to end the monthly direct debit payment anyway' and see if that turns the trick. The only way we'd consider staying is if the permanent price for the package we're on was dropped to NowTV levels...and that's not going to happen even as a monthly or quarterly special.

There is only one cable/Internet company in our rural area. We had a bundle so when I called to cancel cable the rep kept reminding me that the price for internet would go up. It went up like $10. Cable is quickly going the way of the landline phone and they know it.
Agreed. Who wants 500 channels of nothing I want to watch? Commercials (Hulu has them, but they're limited) and reality TV: Oh, where do I sign? *eyeroll*

I've had Hulu for years so im keeping it. Like skimom, we don't have cable anymore so we stream whatever we feel like watching.
Sure beats paying $$$ for a hundred channels that never aired anything we'd want to watch.
About five years ago, we also cut the cord with DirecTV. Our monthly bill was close to a hundred dollars. Now, we subscribe to Hulu and Netflix. We have also recently bought into Amazon Prime. Even with occasionally subscribing to a season here and there, on Amazon, we STILL come out ahead.

BTW...just saw the final episode; and, just started the book last night. I am interested in seeing the differences.

More often than not, we literally would spend at least a half hour scrolling through over 100 channels on that stupid guide and end up watching a DVD we already owned.

Our cable bill (with internet) was almost $200/month. With hulu, Netflix and Prime we spend a fraction of that (like you said, even occasionally paying ala care for stuff on Amazon).
Local news and PBS we get with an HD antenna.

About 11/22/63...the book is one of my all time favorites. The series is very different, but I thought it was great. Enjoy!

But, but, but, what about the little people reality show? Little people, skimom. Little people.

I love these guys.

I used to like Little People, Big World *hangs head in shame* How did you know one of my weaknesses?!
I love little people too. Not all of them mind you, some can be straight up rat bastids.
I love the Roloffs and those L.A. gals to be more specific. Oh and Peter Dinklage. I fell in love with him when I saw him in The Station Agent a few years ago. Bet I could find that on HULU, Netflix, or Amazon. Bet Comcast doesn't have it.

Oh my God that's the damned truth. Every time I call to cancel they cut my bill way down and even add channels I'll actually watch. Maybe if I keep at it they'll give it to me for free. Hmmmm.

YES! I LOVE The Station Agent (it is on Netflix--I watched it last weekend :) )! And Penelope! Those were the first two movies I saw him in. He's mad handsome, IMHO.
