Wouldn't a S.K scripted video game be amazing?

That's interesting information about the deal for The Dark Tower and any potential gaming spinoff. Does King own the videogame rights for the rest of his catalog? I too would doubt he would want to take the time to script a videogame. Given all his other commitments, and given the different nature of this particular art form, I'm not sure this would be something he'd want to do.

I know it was said in jest, but the mention of Cujo vs. Zombies got me thinking about the possibility of a simple, just-for-fun-type game that could combine several of King's stories. Maybe something like a Nintendo 8/16-bit game, a 2D platformer where a character goes through different novel-related levels. A Pet Sematary level, a Children of the Corn level, a Marsten House level, etc. For those who know the game Shovel Knight, you'll understand what I mean when I say it could be done like that.

I liked that 8-bit cinema with The Shawshank Redemption, as well.

Maskins, King's brain as a video game is a very fascinating concept. Maybe you go into the brain and experience those levels. The last boss is King himself, perhaps? One could go through all the sections of the brain dedicated to his books.

Some company should talk to King and try to get the idea licensed/funded.

Yeah that would be cool, each level could have a different style and objective. I think it could be started on kick starter maybe if the rights issue was sorted?

As a self diagnosed geek, I keep a broad interest in all activities which used to make it hard to get girls to kiss me in high school. One of those is video games.

I am sure not everyone here is game players but this might interest a few...

While true that a lot of video games are made with teenage boys in mind, portray women and different ethnicities poorly as well as being insanely violent, they are getting better.

Film and literature level qualities of game are being made. For example, I recently completed 'The Last of Us', an amazingly told epic focusing on a teenage girl and her unwilling protector in a post apocalyptic America. It had a gripping story line, diverse protoganists (including LBGT characters) and excellent acting. It also scared the living hoo ha out of me in places, plus had me weeping at the end like no ones business.

It got me thinking today that it Mr. King would be an excellent writer for a video game - particularly if he brought his trademark characterisation and plotting into it. I think an original story would be better rather than trying to shoehorn an existing story in.

Anyone agree?

Anyone played 'The Last of Us' and was also moved to tears at the end? Please don't leave me hanging...
This would be awesome! But....the LEGO videogames are about the only level of games I can play.I gave up on LOST because it was making me dazed and confused. What can I say! I grew up on Atari and all the grand games that went along with it!

How about a Lego S.K? Little Lego Cujo, Little Lego Annie, Little Lego Pennywise?

Admittedly this would put the frighteners on a generation of younger games but hey, it may broaden their horizons!

It would also be good for adults (we know how we all still love Lego). Also think of all that child and parent bonding time over recreating classic King scenes.
