This is not about race. It is about transferring the perfection of the story to the big screen intact.

Exactly! I adore Idris Elba but he just isn't the vision we all have of Roland.

I'm trying very hard to keep an open mind. But, I don't like being called a racist snaggled tooth hillbilly.

I might be those last two.... well, some of my American ancestors did hail from Appalachia. And I need some dental work. :Oo:

...now calm down sweetheart....we KNOW you're a dirty pirate hooker......

See? There's another thing we have in common. :highly_amused:

Clint Eastwood most probably for Roland. I could see Errol Flynn in his prime doing it as well. John Russell also. Robert Mitchum as well. I have to think about the other characters.

I was listening to a lady who has duel American/Australian citizenship. She was born in Euclid , Ohio and came out to Australia when she was five. She said she went back to Euclid in 2015 after the last time in 2004. She said she couldn't believe how run down it was. Cincinnati was good, but go outside the big city and it looked like it was in the Depression. That's how Trump won.

That is exactly what I am trying to say.

Do you remember in the Drawing of the three, a police officer who met Roland, said years later when he is watching the movie 'Terminator'; "that is him, that is him".

So as you said he is just cold as steel. Like the terminator. Ne expressions.

But look at Idris Elba. He has too many expressions on his face on this 3 pictures. He is far away from what Roland really is.

think you missed the beat there merde - that was Jack Mort he was 'steering' when the cop helped Roland in the gunshop.

gotta have the fans on your side from the get go - or you're on a shoogly peg from the get go.

watching 'Sneaky Pete' at the moment - check out the story line - two brothers in bronx caught up in a battle with local king pin. one brother, Eddie, taken as collateral while other tries to raise money to free him. only it's Eddie who is drugged while the henchmen guard him - promising to kill him if other brother doesn't come up with the goods !

hmmm ?

i'm watching this waiting for the naked gunfight scene to kick off!

great show, slow build up mind.

As far as the Dark Tower movie goes - I showed the trailer to Andy and he is all for going to see it

He says it looks really good (he has never read a Dark Tower book)

I'm going to watch it too, I don't care about all the hate it's getting for the casting, etc. The minute SK tweeted "Last time around" and the EW articles clearly indicated that it's not a direct adaptation of the books, I relaxed. It's not the DT story I (or anyone else) wanted, but I'll take it for what it is.

Besides, at the rate Hollywood is cannibalising itself, I just know 15 years down the road it will eventually be "rebooted" and given proper treatment on screen.

I'll wait for the reviews. It won't be an opening night thing for me. When I hear the story of the last time around, it will be in the pages the author creates. If the reviews are good, I might go see it. I agree that the way things are going, we might see a proper treatment in the future either on the big screen or on television. Since moving to Bangor and starting to renovate this old Church, I can throw the small screen on a movie sized wall. I'm patient. I can wait.
