such a difficult task..the span of the storytelling is so wide, huge...one'd have to carefully fit such songs in specific places to dramatic effect

ponderable, but...

what i'd most like to know is that they get someone who would create a musical soundscape, maybe much like what cameron crowe does with his movies, that is both highly diverse and intently specific to characters, moods, scenes...

i could easily see individual songs, like you've suggested...but depending on how a scene is directed, even that would need to be flexible...

i can envision, tho, a soundtrack that would encompass a wide range of style...everything from bruce to tomita...from zz top to lyle lovett...the beatles to tangerine dream or vangelis...the avett brothers to david byrne

Where the Streets Have No Name - U2
Velcro Fly - ZZ Top
Hurt - Johnny Cash
Happiness is A Warm Gun - The Beatles

Well, there are a few songs wich I know perfectly fit to DT movie, furthermost, some of them about events of DT. Somewhere Far Beyond (The events of The Gunslinger and The Drawing of The Three) and Carry The Blessed Home
about Jake's death
by Blind Guardian, Wanderlust by Megadeth.

Here's the lyrics of Somewhere Far Beyond:
I came from far
Beyond your reality
The ocean of time
It's the odyssey of mine
I am the narrator
And now I'll tell you
Where I've been
And what I saw
And how it ends

Welcome to the wasteland
In a world that's turning faster
Where I'm alone for a while

It's turning faster
Away from light straight to the dark
The march of time it has begun
I'm caught in an ancient dream so bright
And then the march of time begins

The man in black he waits
Behind this last task
It's full of pain
To sacrifice the only son
The legions of the lost
Wait in the old mine
They try to stop me
The battle it has begun

So I'm not afraid
To walk down the wasteland
I'm so alone on my way
And I don't fear that dusty godforsaken path
Somewhere far beyond

Somewhere far beyond
The march of time it has begun
Somewhere far beyond your reality
And then the march of time begins

Look at my soul
And behind
There are some thins
I've to hide from you
I'm following the black man
I'm losing control
And I don't care
What's happening to the boy

Welcome to a new world
One more step to the dark tower
And my whole body's in flames
I'm looking for
Those healing things to be prepared
The march of time it has begun
I'm caught in a prisoner's dirty life
And then the march of time begins

The prisoner did bring the healing spell
The queen of shadows found herself in pain
And death brings answers to us all

What will I find
When the dark tower appears
Will it be the end
Or just a new quest after all
I am the narrator
And now I'll tell you
Where I'd been
And what I saw
And how it ends

Somewhere far beyond
The march of time it has begun
Somewhere far beyond your reality
And then the march of time...
Somewhere far beyond
The march of time it has begun
Somewhere far beyond your reality
And then the march of time begins

Look around and see
The world is turning fast
Faster day by day
Somewhere far beyond
I'll try to change it
If I can - Somewhere far beyond
There's only one chance
And it lies - Somewhere far beyond
Somewhere far beyond
The march of time it has begun
The march of time it has begun

Motorhead - Outlaw
Giant X - Badland Blues

Both of them remind me of The Gunslinger. The lyrics of Badland Blues:

Right down in the badlands
The temperature's high
My moves, turning heavy
A 110 in the sky

Pre:
Heat of the air on its high
My brain and my tongue's running dry

Chorus:
Blue sapphire horizon,
Heat of the sky-zone
Ain't good news
The blistering heatwaves
Turning the last page
To the badland blues

Burning heat in my body
From my head to my toes
My head is on fire
And my liquids are low

Pre/chorus

I try to escape that nightmare
I want to get away from that hell
I'm just dreaming of dancing ice-cubes
To cure my tormenting spell

I'm only through the first and most of the second books, but I always find myself associating music with whatever narrative I'm currently engrossed in, so I'll share my random songs. I literally just started a Dark Tower playlist on my phone last night.

Bad Company-Bad Company
Blue on Black-Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Down in a Hole-Alice in Chains
All Along the Watchtower-Jimi Hendrix
