That was Julie Lawry. And her pepto-bismol meanness. Not to say gun shooting meanness. Laws no!
She spotted Tom later on in the novel while changing a light bulb

Thanks! I had read your previous post where you mentioned Julie but the name didn't ring any bells :)

The Stand has some interesting minor characters. I also liked Hap. The only minor character I can think of that I love in another novel is Mr Jingles. He can be condered a character, right? :)

YES!!!!!!! Mr Jingles is definitely, definitely a character, and is well deserving of your love!
There are so many animal characters whom I love, not just in Stephen King's novels but in the novels of any author. Mouse and Bitem and Nibbins and Peter Horse in John Masefield's children's stories; the rabbits in Watership Down; all the characters in The Wind in the Willows... Just too many to list! I am a big softie at heart - write a cute animal, especially if they are brave, and I will be a fan for life. :)

Richard "Dick" Holloran! I would love for King to do a stand alone novel and/or collection about this guy. He is always seems to be in the vicinity of trouble....supernatural terror. He was mentioned in IT, he is a primary character in the Shining and he appears in the Doctor Sleep.

It's been awhile since I've read The Shining, but I believe Dick drove a Plymouth Fury.....the same type of car as Christine!!!!

Just wanted to say that I would LOVE to see more of Dick Hallorann! He was probably the character I cared about the most in The Shining, and Scatman Crothers' portrayal of him in the film adaptation was just beautiful.

(In fact, let's hear it for Scatman, a magical performer on stage and screen for over 60 years. A professional drummer, pianist and dancer as well as a great actor, and the voice of Hong Kong Phooey, no less! Rest in peace, Scatman - you were a true one-off! :semi-twins:)

OK, so I might get some hate on this one, but I choose Tom Rogan from IT. His character is almost as evil as Pennywise. I'm not saying I "like" him, but he was written perfectly. The fact that you can hate that guy so much, and that he is a minor character, shows how rich his character truly is.

I have always wanted to know more of Mr. Keene, the pharmacist from IT who has the heart to heart with Eddie explaining that his medicine is just tapwater. That scene when Eddie asks (i don't swear for exact words here) "Do you meani'm mentally ill" Keene answers "I don't know, are you?" or something like it. He appears in a few other scenes as well and i have always felt that behind Mr. Keene there lurks a good story waiting to be told.

I'm pretty sure that Mr. Keene shows up in

11/22/63

If I remember correctly. But it's a bit part. Not a backstory.
