I filled them in on everything, advising them to put their last copy in the Stephen King section. They just stared at me blankly...

Oh well.

The only things a parent might object to are the mildly creepy pictures (which is doubtful; most of my books as a kid in the 80s had much more 'frightening imagery' in them) or the bit of dialogue:
"...pulled hell out of the whistle..."

I'd have let my kid read it when he was little. I'm pretty sure a child who is old enough to understand it would be perfectly fine. (Unless the child later told a supervising adult to pull
HELL
out of something... In which case that would hopefully only earn said child a short timeout.)

There are MUCH worse things on network television.

...and kingricefan: I'm right there with ya'! I believe that warped children are more likely to succeed in this sick, twisted world.

Got Insomnia, a hardback copy of Black House, (to replace my paperback; it's held together with duct tape!), Duma Key, Lisey's Story, Skeleton Crew, and Full Dark, No Stars, (all hardbacks), for forty bucks. Not too shabby! Unfortunately, the search continues for Joyland, I haven't found it anywhere yet! :m_inspect: Guess I'll have to break down and get it online.
