Came across the thriftbooks app on my phone last night and decided to give it a try. Ordered a 'very good' used paperback copy of Lisey's Story, one of Mr. King's books that I've not read yet.
Might take a while to arrive here from Chicago but, fingers crossed, it will get here ok.
....They are a very good company to deal with my friend, it'll make it across the Big Puddle with no problem....be aware though, that this story is very polarizing....folks either love it or revile it.....a neat departure for King I thought, though it took me a several reads to consider it favorably.....

Hopefully I'll be in the former category when it comes to reading it, GNTLGNT.

Glad you found my little 'secret' that I've been telling everyone on here to join. I have shopped on thriftbooks.com for a couple of years now and have been pretty satisfied. They ship the books in plastic bags so sometimes there might be 'dinged' corners when they arrive. It usually takes about 10 days to receive the order so I don't know how long it will take to get to you on the other side of the pond. I have been able to locate many rare titles from them and that makes me happy.

Looked like a great site and there seemed to be a lot of bargains. Think it might take up to 14 days to get here but I've got other books to keep me going til then.

I have found some signed limited editions on there and have obtained some 1st printings of rare titles. There has only been a couple of times where I was disappointed (such as showing me the cover and info for a limited edition and I receive a book club edition). I contacted them both times and they refunded my money and didn't make me return the book. That's classy!

Your positive vibes are making me glad that I added the app to my phone.
Sounds like a totally professional set-up.

Make sure you set up a 'wish list' with them and that you add the appropriate edition to your list. Look around also as they sometimes have the same book listed twice (I have found the original The Running Man paperback listed in a few different places on the site as it was under different editions). Use the ISBN if you can.

On our way back from a walk in the forest at Ravensdale, yesterday, we stopped off at Easons book shop in Dundalk and I was delighted to pick up the paperback copy of Song of Susannah that completed my Dark Tower collection. The lined up spines look great on my bookshelf.

I also ordered a paperback copy of IT from Book Depository just coz I really want to read it again.

Did anyone purchase Reading Stephen King by Brian James Freeman?

I purchased a grab bag sort of thing from Cemetery Dance as my xmas present. I got this book and it is signed by 12 of the 17 authors. It may have been in the grab bag because it lacked signatures so wanted to know if someone who got all the signatures could help me out.

Here are the signatures I got that I know for sure:

Richard Chizmer
Frank Darabont
Stephen Spignesi
Justin Brooks
Tony Magistrale
Robin Furth
Kevin Quigley
Hans-Åke Lilja
Mick Garris
Jay Franco
Brian James Freeman (editor)
A twelfth signature I am unsure about.

Here are the authors that I don't have the signatures:

Stewart O'Nan
Michael R. Collings
Rocky Wood (for obvious reasons)
Billy Chizmer
Jack Ketchum
Clive Barker
Bev Vincent

For sure I know I do not have Clive Barker or Jack Ketchum's signatures. So that leaves Stewart O'Nan, Michael R. Collings, Bev Vincent and Billy Chizmer as the mystery signature.

I'm thinking it is Bev Vincent, but that first B isn't quite a "B" like he does them. unless his hand was cramping by the time he got to this signature sheet.

I would show a photo but I can't get it here.

Yep, it's Bev. Just too many other things in the signature that pinpoint it to him.
