Thank-ee! I've heard from several folks on here and other places that it's fantastic. Not sure why I've never ordered it or anything....just one of those things I guess!
It's one of the most over-looked King titles. I think it's because it was only ever available thru a book club and not something that you could just walk into a bookstore and pull off of the shelf. It's the companion piece to On Writing.

Someone donated a pretty big King collection at our local thrift shop, none more than $2 and nearly none of them had ever been opened. My daughter and I bought several, but I might have to go back and get more (lol). My space is limited, so I've promised myself that if something comes in something else has to go out *sigh* I'm trying to decide which ones I bought will go on the shelf and which old copies I'll part with. It's difficult! Should I replace my ancient & well loved Different Seasons with the first edition unopened copy I just bought? I just can't. Or my Tommyknockers? It might not be my favorite, but it's also well-read…

Book stress.

Just received in the mail today a nice hardback 1st printing of Denver by John Dunning that I purchased off of Ebay for less than $5! It's not in perfect shape (it's an ex-library copy), but right now there are two of them on Ebay and the asking price for each is $300. I done did good, Mama! =D

So my little intuitive 'voice' told me to stop at Goodwill after work today. Here's what I found:
1st hardback (reprint) of Digital Fortress by Dan Brown
1st hardback of The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
4th hardback of The Davinci Code by Dan Brown that is SIGNED! The cool thing is that it is signed to 'Dan', which is what I go by!!

Looks legit to me.

I have one of those voices, too! When it yells to get myself to the secondhand shop, I listen. And I've rarely been disappointed :)

Hi Jonesy! I have done a fair share of buying from them. They have pretty much anything you could want- books, dvd's, etc. Most of their merchandise is used, so please make sure you read the descriptions and check to see if the icons for 'missing dust jacket' or 'ex-library copy' is noted. I would say I have bought maybe 2 dozen items from them and have only been disappointed twice (seller described item as a hardback and what I got was a trade paperback and another time the item was described as a limited signed/numbered and what I got was a bookclub edition). Both times the seller refunded my money with no trouble. I didn't even have to send back the books (I donated them). Shipping is included in all purchases, too. You can get a nice hardback book for a mere $3.99! If you're not too picky about your books, I would give them a try. Also, if you order multiple titles from the same seller you can get discounts. You can also make a 'wish list' and be notified by email when an item you're watching is available. Good luck!
I placed my first order with thriftbooks recently-only issue thus far is I received an ex-library copy of Song Of Susannah when it wasn't listed as such. BUT, turns out it is a first edition (good condition) and it was only $3.19 so I'm happy anyway! =D

I must be hearing too many voices and they're contradicting each other all the time-whenever I feel drawn to Goodwill, 99% of the time I'm S.O.L.!! ;;D
I don't know what it is- I'll just be going along minding my own business and then in the back of my mind it'll pop up and say 'You better go to the Goodwill today.' or 'Go to the thrift store on such-n-such street.' Crazy!!

I DID find one I had to email them about! Got a book listed in "like new" condition and it was barely in fair or acceptable condition! It had multiple pen writing on both first and last page and also pen scribbles on the sides of the book. It was actually the book I paid the most for out of the lot I purchased. We'll see what happens...

I had an email right away this morning from them-said they'd found a replacement, were sending it out free of charge and I could keep the unacceptable book. Hope the next one is in "like new" condition as originally listed. I was impressed by their response time!

That's such a nice lagniappe. :)
The only other time I've seen something like that was when I took Sundrop to this really great horror store in Burbank, where they sell pristine copies of used books, among other things (DVDs, movie one-sheets, clothing and jewelry, cards, etc.). She found a copy of Black House there with a publisher's postcard tucked in it...with Peter Straub's signature on it. Okay, so it wasn't the book, but it was a nice little treasure to come upon.

All hardcover first edition, in PERFECT shape;
The Eyes of The Dragon
Dreamcatcher
Skeleton Crew
Nightmares & Dreamscapes
The Dark Half

I already had all of these, but at a little over a dollar a piece, I couldn't pass these up.
My friend snaked me the day before, he found a first edition of It at Goodwill for $2! I was so jealous. I may have to order that one online, but it will be closer to $30, and the condition is really a toss up. I don't want the book without the dust jacket.

If it were me, I'd wait....don't spend that much for a book w/o the jacket. It'll come across your path eventually. ;)
