On Saturday I found an beautiful signed and inscribed hardback 1st printing of A River Runs Through It by Norman Maclean! This is quite a rare title to find as there were only 5,000 copies printed and it was through the University Of Chicago, not a major publishing house, therefore there was no big budget for promotion. It is signed by the author but he only put down his first name. All of the other examples online of this book with an autograph show him using his first and last name, which leads me to believe that the owners of this book were very close friends of his. I think this is one of the Holy Grail's for book scouts and collectors. The name after 'To' is scratched out with a black marker and the only thing I can figure is that there was bad blood between this person and 'Bev', (whom they both loved), whoever she is.

Let's see, today the mailman delivered a 1st hardback printing of Journal Of A Novel: The East Of Eden Letters by John Steinbeck that I bought off of Ebay for a great price. I also bought a nice copy of Images by David Lynch from Goodwill online. Found a beautiful 5th hardback printing of Helter Skelter. Don't know if I want to do a re-read on that one though. I read it years ago when I was in my teens and it scared me.

A couple of weeks ago I drove by a garage sale and stopped to check it out. I found vintage hardcovers of Davy Crockett, Tom Sawyer, Robin Hood, Bambi and Anderson's Fairy Tales. A couple of the spines are a bit loose, but they're in good condition for as old as they are. From what I can tell, they were all published in the late 20s to early 30s. And I bought them for A QUARTER a piece!! From what I could find on ebay, they might only be worth around $8 each, but they will make a cool display if nothing else.
