I remember feeling very proud on two occasions. One was workrelated and one was sportrelated. The first was when i finished a threyear project for employer. They had only given my rather loose indications in what direction to go. I made a Cultural history guide for the area where i live spanning the timeperiod from Stoneage til now. I wrote summaries of 50 small areas in the bigger areas where i lived. Pointing out places of interest and telling the stories behind them. Also wrote fact summaries that went a little deeper on about 30 subjects. Got a lot of praise when it was done. They sent me out to lecture to the schools and libraries in the area so they could use it. It is still on the internet and in use. The other one was when i was playing soccer in school. A schoolchampionship, We played another school and i was goalie. I probably played the best game of my life. Made several almost impossible saves. We lost the game anyway because they were way better than us as a team but afterwards the other team came up to me and said that i had been fantastic and congratulated me to a great game. Such things are nice to hear so it made me rather proud.

At the moment my greatest source of pride is a painting I'm working on. I had always wanted to paint a SK related picture so I could hang it over my book collection but i wanted to wait until I got better at painting ( because I knew that would be one painting I'd be looking at a lot) but I have started a month ago. it will be a portrait of SK with Cujo, Pennywise and Carrie in the background. I have done Cujo and Pennywise already and I think that mixing both my passions for SK and painting has had an amazing effect on the quality of my work. I am amazing myself every night when I stare at it and can see the progress I have done technically on this particular painting. So that's my pride and joy at the moment :)

I have kids who are productive members of society and grandkids on their way to do that. I've been half of a 40-year marriage that's still going strong. I got a few professional awards, and one of them involved a standing ovation, and two of my career heroes got up to lead it and applaud. That was darn special.

(Don't worry about my ego running out of control in this "brag" thread. When we get to the "regrets" thread, I have a few to mention.)

...proud of being smart enough to marry my beloved, having three great kids, a grandson...my career in radio, and going back to get my nursing degree in my 40's...
You know, when i married i wasn't proud. My feelings were more of confusion. Does this wonderful creature really want to marry me? Why? It was more these kind of thoughts i had. That didn't diminish the feelings i had for her of course.

I'm proud of my mental outlook as I age. A lot of people become bitter as they grow older. They are suspicious of people who are different from them, place too much stock in material possessions they can't take with them when they die, continue to nurse petty grudges, and are scared of new ideas and change in general. I've grown less judgemental and less materialistic with age. I'm more charitable, more empathetic now. I'm very thankful I've lived long enough to develop this state of mind.

I'm the same way - when it became clear that my husband was just crazy about me - my thoughts were "What the hell is wrong with you that you like me?" We're humble creatures, you and I.

I like this Autumn! Aside from the obvious (kids), personally about me, what I am most proud of is who I really am. I'm peaceful. I'm a good friend to have.
