Even the scars that you get from childhood, seem to follow you through life.

Kind of like in the Stephen King books.

If you really look at his characters, he kind of writes about real normal people,
well some abnormal people, but if you look at them, you can relate to the characters in
some of his books.

I felt like "carrie", even though it wasn't too much to that extent, but that's
just how I felt in high school and let me say, growing up that movie
scared me, well the first one, but I can watch it now with a little more comfort.

When people blame bad things that happen to good people in literature,
why aren't they yelling at Shakespeare or any other works?

No it's recent things and that is crazy, because if you really ever read Shakespeare,
which I did a long time ago, his work is some of the most gruesome, messed
up stories, and they call that classic, yet more than likely I think in those time
periods, they probably did all sort of drugs and such, but did they call that bad?
No, they say they were "expanding their minds".

The media recently talked about a shooting with a young man in California
and I saw his video before he went on a rampage.

Basically I think the young man, may have needed help, but seriously I think
he was selfish and was blaming everything on the popular kids and was
going to shoot up girls with blonde hair and such.

I mean for crying out, I don't think most of us has had a happy childhood
and we had bullies, but we grow up and are adults and no one wants
to hurt anyone, we move on.

But to blame anything on books that Stephen King has ever written is
insane.

I mean come on, I even think some martial arts masters have even
read Stephen King's books and these men are of the most sound
minds and peaceful and realize, it's "just a book" but you don't see
them going out and doing a rampage and taking people down.

I think people need excuses to blame bad situations on things
that have nothing to do with the bad situations.

I mean, I might repeat myself sometimes, because if
you really think about it, be lucky that anybody even reads now a days anyway.

Stephen does help out to feel normal, well with some of the twisted characters in
his books, I think, "Well I think I'm little bit more normal than some of the craziest
running around in some the stories Stephen King writes about".

So thanks Mr. King for writing and making alot of us feel "normal"

..."kind of writes about real normal people"?...indeed, that is his greatest strength in my eyes as a long time Constant Reader...he creates characters that through some magic could easily grow flesh and walk off the pages of his books, and into our reality without anyone blinking an eye...I've said on countless occasions that his "people" live & breathe to me, and in most cases are just "regular folk" thrust into some very irregular situations which humanizes them even more...he has conjured up some real dillies, but for me-I will always love his "Jus folks"....

Very well said.

While reading “The Stand” there were a few characters that completely identified with people I know and how they relate to me. I was a bit spooked; it was like that specific part of the story was written specifically for me.

While reading the Dark Tower series, I had a “shine” from the character Eddie Dean: a strong feeling that Eddie Dean is a Real person or entity, and not just a story character

I wonder if anyone else has ever balled their eyes out besides myself when some of the characters have died in the books

Yes, stupidly I have.
It was foreshadowed near the beginning to of the story the “character” will die; and “characters’” impending doom was suggestively but very clearly made known to be approaching.
“character” dies, and despite all my preparing and effort to keep my **** together; the book pages are suddenly and involuntarily rained on by my tears.

Oh jimmy cricket! ha hahah I did write that....insert foot in mouth. Well I wrote it, so I wonder expression I could write, since I wrote it and
not actually said it.

Oh gosh this is going to go a whole other level isn't it...lol :D

Hmm...I think sometimes my Boston accent might take over my writing. Now if I wrote how my accent really sounded like, well that's a whole
new ball game.

But you know how that phrase goes....Park the car in Harvard Yard and they say we say..Pak the Ka in Havad Yad..
I got to be honest:
You can't pak the ka in Havad Yad, there's no pakin spaces. You have to take the T in.
The T is the train, but you do have to take the train, the Red Line into Havard.

Oh boy, all this Maine rain has got water on my brain this morning.

Let's hope the sun comes out soon, well I know tomorrow it will ;)

....sorry, sorry, sorry-but I giggled REALLY hard at the thoughts that trampled through my brain at the mis-spelling of "bawled"....
Why am I not surprised?:facepalm_smiley: Only you, dear, only you!

I caught the misspelling myself but that comes from working for lawyers for years, having proofread untold numbers of documents over the course of my career.:highly_amused:
