I like some author's styles better than others, as do most people. I take occasional jabs at Koontz and others, but as someone who would like to make a living writing, my hat's off to all who do so, whether Koontz or others. I've read several of Koontz's books and like him, though not as much as SK. Even someone like Stephanie Meyer, who REALLY gets bashed, no longer has to work a 9-5 job to pay the bills, and she probably cries all the way to the bank whenever her critics let loose on a rant. That doesn't mean I have to like twinkling vampires, though.
But of course, King is the King.

if you want a Koontz fan club, you should probably be on a Koontz page, my friend.

I will have to disagree with Koontz not being good, but you are entitled to your opinion. But what I'm trying to get at is that Koontz is too often singled out in particular for insults as if his very existence is some sort of threat to Stephen King. If people don't like Koontz, fine. But they should either be more constructive with their criticism or equally insult all other writers who aren't Stephen King.

P.S. You're boring and stale.:p

P.P.S. This is my final, final say on the subject.

Ha ha ha ha!!!

AND what REALLY gets me about Koontz is he seems to imply it constantly rains in Southern California.

IT DOESN'T!!! I KNOW. I LIVE HERE.

So now you're bashing a fiction writer for writing something that doesn't happen in real life. He merely takes artistic license when need be to set a desired mood. But I guess other writers never do that.

And the fact the you live in SoCal is irrelevant. Facts are just meaningless words that can be used to prove anything and I object to you using them in this discussion.

That was actually just a joke. Because I want it to rain.

But all of my other points are valid, son. (I really hate when people say "son.")

Suuurrrrrre you were joking. And your so called points are merely your opinions, and since you have certain tastes in literature that are questionable at best I choose to ignore them in their entirety.

I was wondering how long I'd have to be on this board before I saw the age old "Koontz vs King" arguments spring up from nowhere lol

I was never a huge Koontz fan, I read Phantoms and The Servants of Twilight when I was younger but don't remember being blown away. But, at the same time, I accept that he has his lane and people like him, and as long as he's been around there must be a reason for it.

It's the same way in music, I like Metal but was never a fan of Megadeath. That said, I don't care enough to bash them, they've been around long enough and survived the criticism's from Metallica fans, they earned their place in the genre.

Tim, I know Mr. Koontz laughs all the way to the bank. His books sell. He has a fan base. No need to defend him; I get it.

I've never once said that Mr. King is my favorite author, or that I find his work to be the absolute best available. But I sure won't bash him here on the website that he owns and makes accessible to anyone - for free. And I definitely wouldn't accuse Mr. King, even in a joking manner, of plagiarism in general, let alone accuse him of nicking something from Mr. Koontz's work. If the shoe were on the other foot, I wouldn't crack wise about Mr. Koontz's work on a Koontz-owned website, either.

Just some random thoughts. I'll follow your lead and close this case, since I appeared to have opened it.
Have a nice day. :)

A) I missed you!

B) The original point of this post was that he stole from Richard Bachman. I believe it was a joke.

That's the only plagiarism that was spoken of.

Nah.... :biggrin2: Tim D is good people and he and Shasta are buds.... there are some feelings in this, but mostly it has sprung from jest.

And.... Koontz is well, Koontz.

;;D
Sorry! I didn't realize that was for us!!! Ha! Sorry, sorry, sorry.

bookworm101, Tim and I are most definitely friends. That's how we relate. And if I ever meet him in real life I'm going to punch him.

(kidding, kidding)
