Hey everybody,
I've decided to post in this message board to ask a question, just to see everyones thought on the idea.
First I should introduce myself, I'm a 3D artist from New Zealand, recently moved to London, having not too long read the Dark Tower series, I loved every bit of it, having a vivid imagination the ideas and scenes throughout the book were amazing to visualise.
I'm puzzled as to why there isn't much fan art/creative works inspired by the books.
This is where my question comes in, I know there have been talks for a long time of doing a movie/tv adaptation of the story but as far as I can tell this isn't happening anytime soon, would there be any major issues of a small group of people creating a non-profit short animated film in honour of the books?
Would King be the ruling authority on it being allowed, or the publishers of the book, is there a film studio that now has the only rights to creating any visual representation of the story?
I am asking this because a small group of us who are fans of the story and also all talented VFX artists want to created a animation dedicated to the books, but don't want to have to pull it down after spending months creating a short film in our own time.
thoughts?
André
