After 3 days in school, I already have a sick kiddo. Un-freakin-believable. Ty had a fever yesterday, but by bedtime was cool. Temp is back up this morning though, so he will be staying home today.

And the 12 year old got out of bed with major attitude. SIGH.

That didn't take long.......Sheesh........Hope Ty feels better!!

Just going to rant a minute. I really don't understand or appreciate the people who send their sick children to school. Keep them home! Quit spreading it around! Have a little bit of decency and think about everyone else's kids being exposed. And how do people not feel bad for sending a child who does not feel well to sit at a desk and have to try to pay attention, when they should be home resting?!?

I am more than a little mad that this is going on already. I am mad Ty has to miss, because of someone else's complete disregard for every other kid in that building.

I hate it when my kids are sick. And I know it happens. But for the love of all that is holy, I wish people would be responsible. Sorry. Rant over.

I remember when our kids were in school and it just seemed like it was never ending cycle. If some parents could use a little bit of common sense, it would be amazing how much less our kids would be away from school.

I completely agree. Fortunately at Cara's school, if they send a child home sick, the child cannot return the next day....period. If the child is sent home with a fever, the child cannot return until the fever has been gone for a full 24 hours. It doesn't keep idiots from sending a sick child to school, but when school staff notice that a child is ill, does help control the spread of nasty viruses.

I tell you, germ factories. We've dodged the bullet so far (most f the people I know with elementary aged kids have already gotten THE SICK), but Nick sounds suspiciously nasal this morning. Not complaining or feverish, thank goodness. Kids should have to wear biosuits to protect everyone around them.

We have the 24 hour fever rule too, but not the other rule you mentioned, which is a good one, in my opinion. I don't think the constant use of antibacterial wipes, soaps, and sanitizing stuff for their hands is doing any of the kids any favors, either. They just end up with weaker immune systems!

I have always thought that overuse of antibacterial products does more harm than good.
I also buy local honey, and we have a spoonful every day.....call me crazy, but I believe it helps build immunity to allergens, and helps build the immune system in general.
