Does anyone else ever wonder where Stephen King got the phrase "crazy as a sh*t house rat" from lol? I've heard many people in his stories say this so i just thought i would ask.

He didn't coin it but I couldn't find anything about where this originated.Does anyone else ever wonder where Stephen King got the phrase "crazy as a sh*t house rat" from lol? I've heard many people in his stories say this so i just thought i would ask.
It does sound like something he would have, doesn't it?Oh sorry about that Moderator i thought he might have made that one up lol.
Was this when the Bubonic Plague was on?Back in the Dark Ages when I was a kid, it was a fairly common saying.

If you lived in England, I'm sure you've heard much stranger phrases.I remember when I lived in London someone describing his dog as "Crazy as a box of light-bulbs." where did that come from?...

I'm pretty sure I've heard that phrase before, probably from my Dad. Funnily enough, I can't remember it being in SK's books. I do notice quite a bit of almost sub-concious Britishness when reading SK's books, particularly the Dark Towers.
I just heard this again when watching Shawshank Redemption on TV a day or so ago.Does anyone else ever wonder where Stephen King got the phrase "crazy as a sh*t house rat" from lol? I've heard many people in his stories say this so i just thought i would ask.

I used to work near the PsycHealth Centre at HSC and now I am in a different part of the hospital. I can honestly say I do not miss the "Code White"s that were happening all the time, and the sound of people yelling, screaming etc. Plus the ceilings were so high and all the sounds echoed - it was creepy
