What a great start. I did see Morgan, then I left the room. There was another clip from next week. I think it was after the credits...maybe during talking dead. So, I'm putting it in spoilers.
there was a clip shown with a reverend. He is a character to be introduced next week. I think (as in just my own opinion) he is probably the person who took Beth.

Tyreese walked out the door as David Banner and walked back in as the Incredible Hulk I loved it
I don't know if Gareth was killed or not... I kinda think not. Alex was killed - he was accidently shot by a Termite who shot at Rick but hit Alex when Rick ducked.

I really liked that Glenn reminded the gang that they were those people -Who let people out of trapped train cars. However, that guy looked like Charles Manson.
I agree that we probably haven't seen the end of Gareth.
He was hit, but we didn't see him dead. Plus Mary was his mom, so the likelihood of him letting her death go by without response is pretty slim. It will be a trick not to make that whole continuing storyline 'The Governor part II".
The bad guy in the train car: anyone else think he looks an awful lot like Negan in the comic books? I sure do. Were I the screen writers, I'd leave it up in the air, let people speculate, and probably not bring him back until the very end of this season or into next. Pretty sure it's him…but there's an uncertainty that needs to be there.
The number of primary cast is big--hard to handle and have anyone give a crap about any one of them. It also insulates the main cast; 'cannon fodder' is printed on the heads of Bob, Sasha, Tara and a couple of others. They need to up the danger & kill a main cast member (as much as I hate to see any of them go, and I do) or viewers will start to drop. They won't be satisfied with the manufactured drama/suspense of putting a whole bunch of 'don't know, don't care' people in danger then dangling a main cast member over the precipice repeatedly. That thing with Glenn was pretty hokey.
Morgan. Good Lord. I love me some Lennie James; hope they can keep him (though I suspect not). I'm wondering if he'll be a help or a danger, frankly.
I think now that they've revived an effective Rick, they need to give him something to humanize him. He hasn't had any decent expository dialogue since season 2. Sure, I love Rat Crap Crazy Rick (though they need to tell him to drop the head tic whenever he's going to go off the rails--that's hokey, too), but even when he's a killer he's not a machine.
I still loved this episode (watched it 3 times yesterday, and I'll likely watch it a couple more times before next Monday). Gimple told a strong story well.
P.S. One thing I noticed last week when I was getting ready for this season: throughout last season, Rick often wore the shirt that Lori wore over her ubiquitous tank top while she was preggers. Nice touch.

On Talking Dead-Scott M. Gimple said that was not Negan. Someone thought that they heard the girl say Negan in the train car. She was saying not again.

He burned his last "good shirt" when the pig farm ended.
