I am in Wichita Kansas where King will be giving a book tour presentation on 11-14 rather than a book signing. It is incredibly desired that my mother and I be within the first 50 people in line. How long should we be prepared to wait in line???

The weather forecast for Witchita for Thursday 13 is 34º during the day and 22º at night. No one will be able to camp outside the night before without special gear. I don't know what type of vehicle is safe to sleep in when it's below freezing out; nevertheless, my guess is that there will be at least 50 people waiting to get in line at the crack of dawn Friday morning. I'm not at all sure how you are going to guarantee a place among them.

That is minus 5 degrees Celsius (or similar to being inside a fridge) - just wear a nice parka, a toque, some mukluks etc. (of course if you happen to be menopausal then that would be a bonus as your hot flashes would keep you warm!)
