The woods are lovely dark and deep
I was surprised by the gift of wine...really expensive wine...from a stranger in appreciation of our Christmas lights. Our landlord went overboard, as usual. I received some very lovely gifts from family members. I had a delish day. Unhurried and enjoying the simple joy of cooking a meal....snow falling lazily onto the ground, I lazed around and let the day do me. Nothing better than the simply things. I am now in my jammies...having a little christmas cheer and reading. Oliver, our orphan cat from last year, ate three lots of turkey and is snoozing on Beckys lap. Ziggy and Twix are doing the same, under the Christmas tree. This was a blessed day and I am very happy for it. I think it will not be much longer before I nod off as well.

I got a beautiful, single silver pearl necklace and matching earrings from hubby and some fluffy new bath towels and a new set of dishes from the oldest son, pictures and cards from the younger kiddos. :love_heart:

The best present was that it was a quiet, peaceful day, no drama. (Of which there has been entirely too much of this year.) Just good food and the company of my husband, kids and grandchild, lots of laughs and warmth to go around. Phone calls to my parents and sister, we will be going home to visit them in a few weeks.

Was a really great day. :)

My brother-in-law was able to make it back for Christmas. He lives in Arizona but used to live out here when he was first married to my wife's sister. We keep in touch via email, but when we all met at my mother-in-law's house yesterday in Missouri, it was good to see him. Instead of a handshake, John, grabbed me in a bear hug and told me how he missed talking to me. I told him the same. We pretty much stayed in the same corner of the living room all of Christmas Day talking. He's a firearms aficionado, military history buff, etc, and I had forgotten how interesting it was talking to him. It was very good to see him. I think his wife and mine were a bit peeved that we spent all day talking to one another..lol, He even talked about finding a job back around Arkansas somewhere, but I don't think that will happen. All in all, seeing him made it a special Christmas definitely. Hope everyone had a good one.

...that's a genuinely sweet bit of sentiment my friend...that really IS the true meaning of Christmas....our holiday arrives this weekend when my son arrives home on leave, then we tear through our presents next week....Tracy and I are sending he and his wife on an intimate getaway to a retreat in Amish country...
ah yes - then you get to babysit the grandchild too - smart!
(some day I hope to have a grandchild too) - my son just got engaged! :jammin:

My brother got me Stephen fry's 3rd autobiography - more fool me. I wasn't expecting that, people only ever buy me Stephen king books or Jeremy Clarkson books. Not complaining - I love Stephen fry (i think everyone from the UK does).

I also got 5 deodorant gift sets and an aftershave gift set, I think people are trying to tell me something.
:rofl: :bad_smelly: - that is funny - they are trying to tell you they love you

Thanks Staro. Blessings to you and yours as well.
We had a lovely Christmas lunch in NYC after church. Spent the rest of the late afternoon/evening watching Ben Hur at home; it's one of my husband's favorite movies. He deserved the rest after his performances at church on both Christmas Eve and day.

Sounds great! How did the performances go?

My husband and I no longer exchange gifts; we spend our money on vactions and dining out throughout the year. We'll get together with my family on 1/03, so presents will be exchanged with them then. Still waiting for his family's gifts to arrive via the mail. They were a bit late in sending this year. It's all good though.

My real gift is the 20 years with my man, our relatively good health and seeing what 2015 has in store for us. Yes, it sounds cliche but at 53, this is what is important to me.
Sounds good to me
