You have been reading DT, Neesy?
I am still stuck in the Wizard and Glass stage at the moment (book four) but I enjoyed the first three very much! :cheerful:

... and so saying that I must grab that book and run - Andy has a doctor's appointment with an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist - the surgeon who operated on him back in 2007 - must run - catch you guys later!

He does his fiction writing at his home offices, not the business office. On the occasions he actually makes it into the business office where I work, it's to take care of the business side of things or do in-person interviews and he rarely stays more than a couple hours. Most interviews are done by phone or email rather than in-person but in that case they're never done at his homes where he and Tabitha live. Occasionally they'll be done at a guest house if he's not in Bangor. We go over his schedule usually with regard to travel plans, interview and appearance requests, and any other questions that have come up that I wasn't able to field on my own. He might be bringing in a completed manuscript that needs to be photocopied and sent on to his agent and publisher. There's personal chit-chat just as I'm sure anyone else does in their workplace. He is a tea drinker--always has been, but the caffeinated variety not herbal tea HollyGolightly. I'm sure that's the difference between coffee drinkers and those tea drinkers you've noticed who seem more serene. :smile2: The office pictures shown above are older ones and don't look like either of the current home or business offices in Bangor.

I'm curious about what happens if Ms Mod interrupts SK's thoughts :)
If I had to bet, I’d put my money on it invoking an avalanche of colorful metaphors. :)

Since he doesn't do his writing at the business office, it's not really a problem. When he spent more time in Bangor and I had to interrupt him while he was doing his writing, it was mostly done at his request so he was expecting me. I only remember one time when he didn't hear me approaching his desk (he has his music on LOUD) because he was in the zone and he did startle a little when he noticed I was there but he really is a pretty easy-going guy so no metaphors, colorful or otherwise. :smile2: There's rarely anything that important that would requires interrupting him. We know the morning hours are typically when he does that so leave him alone unless he's asked us to get back to him about something. And instead of the "he's in a meeting" response if someone calls asking for him, we let them know it's his writing time and we do not interrupt him then so their message will have to be passed along later.

Moderator Has SK ever based a character after you?
If he did, he didn't share it with me and I haven't recognized myself in the writing. He rarely ever creates a character based entirely on a real person, though. He has used the name Marsha a couple times (I think in Desperation and Dreamcatcher) and when he did it in Dreamcatcher I teased him that he killed that character off the last time so as I recall he had the Marsha character in Dreamcatcher escaping off into the woods or wherever it was she was going. :smile2:

Moderator Does SK ever bounce any ideas off you? Are you responsible for any character's actions?

sorry... I'm full of questions this morning lol
I can't think of any situation where he's done that before writing something but he has asked me to read a story and let him know what I think of it. If I read something that's a blatant continuity error, I'll point it out and he may change it. Most of that sort of thing is taken care of in the copyediting but as you all well know, even many sets of eyes don't always catch the mistakes.

That's cool :) I wouldn't want anything to interrupt SK's writing but a reality show based on you and SK at the office would be much more interesting than any of the reality shows currently on tv :)

For some reason I always imagine Mr. King sitting at his desk, sort of staring off into space, like he maybe sees a story somewhere in the back of his mind, just scratching his head a little. Although I don't know if he really does that or not, that's how I imagine him, daydreaming and scratching his head*. Lol.

I love Stephen King, it's gotta be weird/interesting living his life.

*and I imagine that he is scratching his head wondering " what the hell am I writing?!! "

I don't watch reality shows so can't compare but I think even one with Stephen and me would be pretty boring. It's really just normal business office stuff that goes on for the most part so except for getting snippets of unpublished works or things that couldn't be said in public (so why would we be discussing them in front of a camera?), that's about the only thing I could think of that would be of interest to fans. Maybe I've just worked here too long so I've become jaded. ;-D
