I am talking about the kind that leave you sweating and won't go away all day long. I had one last night. I was back working with youth in an assessment and placing home. I had a bunch of unruly clients. They would not listen to any rules or anything I said. I feared for their safety and wished to have another case worker there. Did not happen. The worst part of the dream was when two youths jumped into a river...no clue why...but there they were...and I had to swim out to drag them up onto a pier. Seems my little daughter was with them. I was struggling to keep her head above water. It was horrid. I woke up very distressed. WOW...gimme some good blue valium!

Do you have an idea why you had this dream?

Dreams like these are awful.
(It sounds like you're worried about being powerless over something, maybe the recent health scare?)

I've had dreams like that as well, Staro. I think stress and worry were the main cause. Thankfully, I don't have them much anymore but occasionally one will creep in and the feeling lasts for such a long time after. They can be so scary when they happen but the feeling does go away eventually. I can emphasize with you. As Gnt said, talk about it when you need to.

I think this may be related to your health scare recently and having to wait so long for the biopsy results. Have you tried a short course of Ativan? (maybe half a tablet before bed?)

I am not a doctor and you don't want to make a habit of it, but it helped me when I was very stressed and had a lot of anxiety.

Did you ever have one of these dreams that really tire you out? Last night, I had a part anxiety dream and part nightmare. I dreamed that I was dreaming....kinda strange. In my dream, I got out of bed and went into the kitchen. On one of the walls, was a large insect with was partly like a huge moth and partly like a scarab beetle. He was pitched and I was in fear of him flying at me. Then, in my dream, I awakened in bed and went to the kitchen and was relieved that this big bugger was not there. Of course, next I dreamt I was watching a movie on tv from the eighties and I was finding the actors hairstyles and clothing quite funny and, suddenly, I was IN the movie. I was amazed at the fact but quite contrary by now. And so on and so on. Holy moly, the stuff I dreamt about would drive one insane. I was tired when I woke up and had to pee badly. I hate that kinda stuff. Just give me an old fashioned nightmare about vampires any day.

All the time. So detailed and vivid when it's going on, even through the changing scenery and people interactions, and when I wake up, I'm trying to figure it out, except that I'm only remembering the last two chapters, not the first eight.

The dreams where I'm working all day long leave me especially tired.
I really hate the dreams where I screw up in a way that will ruin my career.
The dreams where I dream that I wake up are unsettling. There was just one time where I dreamed that I dreamed that I woke up, and I'm not sure to this day if I'm really awake.
Dreamed twice (that I can remember) that I died. But I'm pretty sure I'm still alive. Pretty sure.
Love the flying dreams.
Don't like the dream endings where I'm urinating. I haven't wet the bed yet, always make it to the bathroom......... but I am getting older.

Lol, I have had all of these you mentioned. My horrible dreams involve not being ready for Christmas, not being ready for exams, not being able to cook an order in a restaraunt. They tend to make one tired upon awakening. I sorta like my nightmares, though. I, usually, have them about vampires and about alien invasion. These, I can sink my teeth into...excuse the pun. I cannot believe that my mind can conceive of having these big water pistols...full of holy water...for the vampires but that is what I dream. I hope I have one of these simple dreams tonight a la Stephen King. They are much more reasonable lol.

No but I could really do with an IV of Demerol. lol. Just kidding. I usually go for a little scotch drappie when I feel tense. Winks*
