I can, unlike so many of you, always get away with the excuse that english isn't my first language and all that. But i.. don't exactly like but i think it is important as i suppose most writers do. They want to express something and if the grammar gets out of hand it might get confused. In School i was one of these geeky kids that never spelled a word wrong. I could slip up in the swedish grammar sometimes but spelling was my thing. We don't have any spelling bees competitions as i understand from stories and movies exists in the US otherwise i would probably been good at that. So, if anything is incorrect in the above writing i use my trapdoor excuse.
I think you do exceptionally well, Kurben. I always understand exactly what you're saying. Oh, and I understand about when you were a kid, because I was just like that myself. Perhaps this was mostly due to my parents' certain correction, redirection toward the enjoyment of the language and the fascinating study of it, and the truth.

But there may be genetic forces directing us as to what we love, what feels natural, how we are inclined.

In my case it was probably reading quite a lot. I have a good memory for words. When i write and it is spelled wrong i think it looks funny. So if i spelled wrong it looked wrong because of a memory from how it looked like when i read it. Sadly my memories for numbers are not good. Or peoples faces.....
