I'm actually curious what would happen in an MRI. Hopefully he'd be fully conscious should the need for one arise (pun intended, of course) and could take out all those ornaments himself beforehand. Depending on how much a person is wearing, and where it is, it's not always easy to FIND all those baubles in a hurry. And some body jewelry is really tricky to undo. It can have threaded screws, or coils, or traditional backs, or powerful tension holding it in place.
Considering how expensive even low end body jewelry is, it would be a shame to wake up with all your trinkets in pieces because the ER staff had to cut them off to rush you into Imaging.
And some even consists of metal (among other things) permanently implanted under the skin.
