Been away from the board for a few weeks as I was busy getting married to my beautiful wife!
I did manage to read Wizard and Glass while travelling on our honeymoon though
Currently about 1/4 of the way through The Deep by Nick Cutter, so far so good (if a bit pedestrian).

The George book started well, but it's become a slog. Have to finish it today, to get the review in on time, but it's not compelling reading.
I started Station Eleven yesterday (as a palate cleanser between After Alice and A Banquet of Consequences), and it's a much more interesting book! Shades of The Stand and Swan Song abound, but the writer also has her own quirks that set the book apart. I'd rather be finishing it, to be honest. After the weekend (I promise myself).

My daughter just started the Groff book today (NOS4A2 creeped her out entirely--lol)--glad to hear that it's a good'un.
Have you read Acadia? I quite liked that one, until the third act. That part felt forced, unfortunately. I wish she'd ended it sooner.
Finished Rot and Ruin today. It held its promise all the way. I liked this more than i liked his Joe ledger books. Of course i have only read the first, Patient Zero, but his writing seem to ooze more confidence in Rot and Ruin. I plan to go on with Dust and Decay, nr 2 in that series.
The author is making an appearance here in Spokane. From what I read in the synopsis, this book isn't going to be anything like The Stand or Swan Song.
Sounds very typical of Georges later books. I think she has tired of her characters. She even killed off the wife of the detective in a book but it did not help the books at all. She should kill off the detective and start over. Then maybe she might find the writing form she had in the beginning. Station eleven sounds interesting! Who is the writer??
He released a fifth book in the series not long ago, which I haven't read & am a little hesitant to read. It seemed pretty well wrapped up in the 4th book.
Emily St. John Mandel. I picked it up on a whim at the second hand store the other day. It's interesting, so far as I've gotten into it.
Maybe not but 'tis a good story.
But are numbers 3 and 4 in the series good and worth reading?

A short story collection from the 50s. I've read the book before so I'm just picking out random stories. I just read The Next In Line and that is one creepy story. I'm sure I'll read The Jar again. That one is a favorite.
