I started reading 11/22/63 tonight. Just finished Part I. I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow, because I could easily stay up half the night reading this one. It's off to a great start.

I would never make it......Starting a new review book tomorrow: The Black Book of Arabia. Hopefully it will remove the bad taste the last book left. Such a disappointment after the silly, funny book last week. I've been bargaining with myself: no more buying new books until I read all the ones on my shelf that are as yet unread. Can I do that? We'll see.
I read it a few years ago, and found it fascinating!Has anyone read Shantaram? HAve heard very good things of it.
If you can pull that off, lemme know how you did it, please. I've got piles of new books TBR but my B&N gift cards are calling me!!!!Starting a new review book tomorrow: The Black Book of Arabia. Nothing to do with Phantoms, but since you live in New York I need to ask- has One World Trade Center had its grand opening ceremony yet? I've never seen anything on the news about it and I would think that it would have been all over the television. I was thinking about going to it.Long story short, I picked up Phantoms by Dean Koontz thinking, "This might just be the book that makes me like him!" Wrong. I have to force myself to read it. I'll finish it, but it may be 2017 by the time that happens. I can only get through a few pages a day. His writing is middle of the road, at best.
You'd think I would know, huh? I know it's open to tourists to go to the observations deck(s) but as far as an official grand opening? I'm not sure. Talk about us jaded NYers.Nothing to do with Phantoms, but since you live in New York I need to ask- has One World Trade Center had its grand opening ceremony yet? I'm still rereading Dead Zone, and I've also started reading Unsinkable by Silken Laumann.
I must admit, I was a bit concerned about that second one. There is no co-author listed, and while many people think they can write! it's often boring. But Silken actually can write.
That sucks! There was no news coverage that I saw about this. Nothing. Nada.Opening day was at the end of May 2015. I know only because I listen to Elvis Duran and the Morning show on my morning commute and they broadcasted from the Observatory deck that day.

A lot of families emigrated from Sweden to the States in the mid to late 19,th century, say 1870 to 1900 about, because of bad times in sweden. My brothers wifes family was one of them. was your great grandmothers family one of those?
I try to read what I own before buying more, but then Saturday shows up, and I make my weekly visit to the used bookstore.Starting a new review book tomorrow: The Black Book of Arabia. OOOOOOOOOH! Now I know what 'ironwood' is! And Roland and Shane are definitely simpatico. Should have read this one long ago, I guess--it's definitely an influence on The Gunslinger.Picked up Shane today--I think a few people here said it was good? I've not read it previously, and it was going to be thrown into the donate/trash box at my son's school library, so...
I have no self control around books.
