Well, I do like to stay wedded to facts, and here's my honest view.

The Panthers have the edge, and it could be quite an edge. The Broncos biggest sentimental favorite and biggest weakness is the quarterback comparison. Manning doesn't have the arm or the legs that he used to, not by a long shot. (I saw his run against the Patriots described as looking like a giraffe on ice skates.) What he does have is canniness and some really good receivers, except when they have the dropsies. The Broncos' running game is fine but not stellar, and their offensive line can on a given day suck or be pretty good.

If the Broncos' awesome defense (but with two busted-up safeties..???) can stymie the Panthers' attack, and if the Broncos' offensive line has a great day and can spring the running backs now and then, and if Manning's arm is having a decent day and getting the ball to the receivers for 20-and-shorter, and if the receivers don't have hands of concrete, then the stars could align for a Broncos win. But that's a lot of circumstances that have to go just right, and I don't think the odds favor that. It's possible. I don't think it's probable.

The Panthers have the upper hand in this one. But anything can happen. Newton is a better quarterback. But so was Rothligs.... Rothschild... Rothless.... the Steelers quarterback, and so was Brady. And still, the job got done. Who knows.

My, Grandpa sure does take the fun out of football. I'm going for the Panthers because I secretly want the Broncos to win, and I think an underdog can pull it off (Superbowl III and all)... nothing more, nothing less. ;):)

I support your rooting for the Panthers! And I'm NOT GOING to a Super Bowl party. Every time I have, the Broncos have gone down in flames. The two times I did NOT go to a Super Bowl party, I stayed home and watched them play the Packers and the Falcons. I am STAYING HOME this year. And the Broncos are wearing their white jerseys. Cat, grab your elf. No, that is not code. i don't think so, anyway. I'll take all the help I can get.

The elf is on his honorary perch where he can see the tv, where he has been since Christmas. No worries there. :D I am a little sad, thinking about putting him away after Sunday.

My only dilemma is trying to decide whether to wear my Manning jersey. It is an orange one from the last Super Bowl. (But I didn't have it yet for that game, so it is not my fault. ;) It had been ordered, it was my anniversary present that year, but did not arrive in time for the game.)

I know they are wearing white. I have lots of other Broncos clothing, but no white, because white clothing and I do not get along. Do I wear it or no?? I wore it for the Patriots game, so it was definitely good luck that day.

All these superstitions are getting to me this year. o_O

I think you're spot on with your game analysis, but I am hoping things will fall into place one more time. :)

I'm wearing my NY Jets Tim Tebow jersey. A little help from higher powers can't hurt, right? :)

And even though Peyton's attempt at tebowing is rather lacking, at least he gave it the old college try. :)

How many times do I have to tell you, that you're supposed to be an all out Broncos fan this time?
