My idea of a fantasy camp would be exhibits, rides, games, etc. like a carnival. Maybe a Blaine/Train, a riddle contest, pie eating contest, Misery Axe chopping competition, a 'Pet Sematary' where you can dig up some weird stuff, a collapsing house exhibit/ride, clown makeup booths, fancy electrical contraptions and an evening tent revival. Mr. King wouldn't have to be there but it would be cool if he was.

I'd like to hang out with him and Tabby at their FL home in the Springtime because, hey, I love the beach! I'd love to sit by the shore and discuss literature and art with the both of them.

Sounds good to me :) As beautiful and quant as Maine is, I'm not a big fan of cold weather. Also, I think I have more questions for Tabby than SK lol.

I see King presiding over this "camp" like Marlon Brando in The Island of Dr. Moreau with his mini-me shadowing his every move. He would tell that joke about being mistaken for Francis Ford Coppola and everyone would laugh or suffer his wrath. There would be overzealous book store employees with a list of rules who would taser anyone who broke his "personal space bubble." Dean Koontz fans would show up and then there would be a real rumble.

A Stephen King camp.... hmmm. :hmm:

Day one: Arrive at the airport, disembark and see Stephen waiting at the bag carousel-thingee with a sign. "Over here Flake!"
Ride back to his place on his Harley... yeeey-ah!
Put my feet up on the couch (no shoes!) and sleep off the jet-lag while he tap, tap, taps away at his morning writing. (try to ignore his intermittent bursts of derisive laughter as he kills off yet another character)
Take a tour of the kitchen (mwhahahahahaha) and help him and Tabby make some lunch. Throw my crusts to Molly to stop her from chewing on my ankle.

A long leisurely walk in the afternoon, while discussing past works. (giving him the occasional flick on the arm for killing some of my best lovelies)

Dinner at a restaurant of their choice... and then out to Marsha's place for dessert and coffee--tea for Stephen. (Okay Marsha, if I have to, I will eat something non-chocolate. *sigh* ;;D )

Say goodbye to Stephen and Tabby for the night... stay up into the wee small hours with Marsha watching movies. (poking her in the arm every now and then when she drifts off)

Sleep.

Day two: Stephen picks us in the morning (after 'writing' time) and gives Marsha the rest of the week off. He takes us on a tour around Maine, showing me all of the book sites... and when we stop for refreshments, they bring me up to speed on his next two releases.
After dropping Marsha home, we return back to his place, I play with Molly for a while and then spring clean his book study.
He is so impressed with my work, that he decides to adopt me and thereafter I shall be known as "Flake, the House Elf." (no, I have not read all of Harry Potter and so do not wish to know my fate. Thank you very much... :Oo: )

I will meet Marsha at her house in the morning. She will offer me coffee but I will already have some to-go. She will drive us to Steve and Tabby's where Marsha will introduce me as the fan currently fantasizing. Steve will smile and offer his hand which I will take firmly, one shake down, very manly. Tabby will smile and say, "Hello.", then she will kiss Steve on the cheek goodbye, have a nice trip, and retire into the house but not to the kitchen. Steve will ask, "So, what's on the agenda for today?". "Egypt," I will answer. In his other hand Steve will have his to-go mug which he will later leave in Marsha's car in the airport parking lot.

Marsha and Steve will be seated together on the jet, across from one another at a table. I'll be across the aisle at a table with Diane Lane. Marsha and Steve will be going over business stuff I will have provided explaining why they must travel to Egypt, but it will be as if they already know all about it. Marsha will be constantly writing on her iPad while Steve speaks to her as he occasionally gazes out of the window.

We have been in the air some time before Sir Anthony Hopkins comes to Diane and my table and asks if he can join us. Diane glances at me. I nod. She smiles and scoots over. He sits, places the Panama fedora he had been carrying on the table in front of him, extends his hand and says, "Tony Hopkins." "Ted Brautigan," I will answer. (to be continued...)

This is actually a very interesting idea. I agree with Ms. Mod that something like this wouldn't be for King; however, the concept is still intriguing. If one is at a music fantasy camp, then you jam with the band. What would you do with Stephen King?

I'm thinking that maybe he would riff with a member of the camp on an idea for a short story, maybe even a piece of flash fiction. The member could then have that idea, with King's contributions, and write it, and either submit it to markets or self-publish it, with King's name attached (Idea by King and Member).

Another thing that could be done -- and this wouldn't require meeting King -- is he would edit, say, the short stories from twelve members and then publish it as an anthology by that press imprint he once used (wasn't it Philtrum?). The stories would only be 1000 words long each.

Yet another idea: perhaps, like the Halloween tale that is posted here each year, he could start a story, have twelve people continue it, and then write the ending. It would be fun, I assume, for fantasy-camp members to write a story with King.

Just thought experimenting, obviously none of this will happen (and I would certainly understand King not wanting to do this; if I were in his position I probably wouldn't do it). It is cool, though, when celebrities make themselves available to fans, even if you have to pay for it (I actually would prefer that you have to pay to keep the numbers down and to encourage only serious people to engage the service). I've never done this, but VIP tickets to meet a favorite rock group is really a cool idea. How far back does that go, by the way? Did rock bands in the 50s do that? The first time I ever heard about this type of thing was about ten years ago, in an article about Kiss and its VIP package.

Ya know, this could certainly bring in some serious bucks for charity if this was something that could be up for an auction like he did a few years ago with having your name placed in one of his novels and used for one of the characters.......
Did this really happen? I was so zoned out in the mom zone for so many years I must have missed this. Which book? Which character? That would be SO COOL!

FlakeNoir  Flake the house elf!
