Dissection:
The Panthers didn't seem to be ready for the Broncos defensive buzzsaw. It hit them early on, and they just never got back in balance.
The Broncos offense was average at best. Their job seemed to be to grind out whatever points they could while the defense kept the Panthers offense smothered. I kept waiting for the def
Intangibles: Whether or not you like the Broncos, their owner, Pat Bowlen, has been just about the most classy, generous, and supportive owner in the league. You can tell how close the team is when you have the former QB come back as GM and the former backup QB come back as head coach. And other players too - like Rick Dennison, former player who's now the offensive coordinator.
After Bowlen hoisted the Broncos' first Lombardi trophy and yelled, "This one's for John!" to have Elway come back as GM over a decade and a half later, hoist it and say, "This one's for Pat!" was a very special karmic moment.
And of course, whether or not you like Peyton Manning, he's been a class act in the league, and it's nice to see him able to choose to ride off into the sunset with a championship strapped to the saddle and his very last past being a score. And I hope he does. Graceful exits are the best.
And Cam Newton post-game was a big disappointment. I though he would have more presence than that. If you can't carry the water, don't be waving the bucket.
