I'll never recover. I want to see him back as a Force ghost (because I KNOW he's an unrecognized/trained Jedi) :)

That would be interesting. I feel the same way. He's just a more pragmatic Jedi.
I doubt I will ever recover from that scene, though. I actually yelled, "Don't you dare...!" in the theater. They dared, though. Dammit.

All those, and more. I'm a movie crier. I ruined more Saturday night dates with sad movies, starting with
Mask - the one with Cher & Sam Elliott. Dear God - I wept and snotted so hard in the women's room after that movie, my date sent a little girl in to check on me. Terms of Endearment too - same date - poor John. Simon Birch. The Mighty. Untamed Heart. Steel Magnolias.

She was mean to him so that he wouldn't pine away longing after her. She didn't do it to hurt him.

I just thought she was selfish. And a user. She would not have came back if she was not sick. I have no doubt she loved him as much as she could love anyone, given her childhood.
Enjoyed the character she played very much, though.

I don't think she was selfish, I think she was damaged. From her childhood, like you said. That's why the wild life and drugs, etc. I think she came back the first time because she needed to come home and stop being so wild. She was ready to grow up.
But the morning that she got in the cab and left, I think she left so that she wouldn't be a user. She couldn't know that she'd gotten pregnant. She left that morning, I think, so that she could stand on her own two feet and not leech off of Forest. She could have. That would have been easy. But she didn't. She got her life straight, got a job and made a home for her and her son. She never asked him for money even though she knew he had lots of it.
When she called for him to come visit, and then went home with him, it wasn't to be selfish. She did that for his son, so that Forest and Forest would have each other after she died.
You're right. She did a great job.
