Many thanks to all for the kind words, healing thoughts and prayers for my family and I over the past several weeks. My dad has lost his battle with cancer, but is free from pain. We will celebrate his life tomorrow evening. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being here when I needed you. (((SKMB)))

Just saw this too.....saddened beyond all for your loss, do1you9. You're Dad was a special person, even though I never had the pleasure to meet him, I can tell he was by the wonderful person he raised as his daughter. Hold each other close.

Rest in Peace and be free of pain......

Thank you all so much. Well, good news and bad news and maybe news. Good news: Willow came home from the vet. I know some of you know how good that news can be when your pet leaves to go there in not-great condition. Turns out it was mostly dehydration. We gave her Pedialyte and kept an eye on her.

Bad news: she is diabetic. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal. Two insulin shots a day and ta-da. However, Willow (as her colorings and name might indicate to you Buffy fans) can turn into a holy terror if you try to do something she dislikes. I have to wrap her in a towel just to trim her claws. She turns into a biting, scratching, screaming demon. If I were to try to give her two shots a day she would tear my face off. Literally.

Maybe news: We will try to get the diabetes in remission with proper food and an herbal supplement that gets rave reviews from other cat parents. So, no more kibbles; only high-protein wet food from now on. We just have to figure how to let the other cats have their kibbles and keep them away from Willow. They all live in the sunroom -- it's okay, they love it -- so that will be a challenge.

Anyway, thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers. She may need them for a bit longer...

Oboy, two shots a day!! Our girl who died last November, was a 'don't you dare touch me' kitty too!! I understand your dread of shot giving. I sincerely pray that proper food and a supplement will do the trick for Willow!!!!!! Could she be fed separately maybe in the loo? Your sunroom sounds like a lovely place.

There was a preacher who fell in the ocean and he couldn’t swim.

When a boat came by, the captain yelled, “Do you need help, sir?”

The preacher calmly said “No, God will save me.”

A little later, another boat came by and a fisherman asked, “Hey, do you need help?” The preacher replied again, “No God will save me.”

Eventually the preacher drowned & went to heaven. The preacher asked God, “Why didn’t you save me?”

God replied, “Fool, I sent you two boats!”

The lesson? Don’t let the blessings around you go unnoticed. Opportunities flit in and out of our lives every day. Sometimes life-saving gifts come in a form that you weren’t expecting, so keep your eyes wide open. If you’re drowning, it’s time to stop thinking. Grab onto that hand that’s reaching to free you.

I've been thinking and praying for you and your family do1you9love? . Hope the memorial was full of love and peace.
Thank you morgan and everyone for the kind words and good thoughts. The service was very nice. A couple of close friends said a few words, another friend played the banjo, and we ate wings and drank beer and laughed and cried. Just what he would have wanted. Now just need to help my mom with the grieving. She's having such a hard time.

Love to you all. :love_heart:

....when I was married previously, my ex's cat was diabetic and we never touched an insulin syringe....we controlled it with special canned cat food for just such critters.....and I'm sure it's even more spiffy now.....

I'm not sure I ever requested a post on this thread, but I do read through every once in a while and include everyone in my daily prayers. I'm a pretty private person and don't share a lot about myself on this site (other than opinions about books, movies, etc. and general nonsense) but today I do have a prayer request.

After a long illness, my father in law passed away this morning. We had known for a while now that the end was inevitable; he had been in comfort care since Saturday. It was sort of a relief when word came this morning of his passing as we knew his suffering was over. My husband has been in CA with his mom for the past two weeks and that has been a blessing and a comfort to her. I'll be out there myself once we know what the funeral arrangements are.

All that said, I need your prayers and positive thoughts to help my mother-in-law see that she can no longer live alone in the house she has lived in for 55 years (I know this is difficult, but it's truly for the best). Without going into details, she is not very healthy herself; but if she agrees to move to a very nice assisted living facility right in the city where she has lived for the last 55 years, the quality of the time she has left will increase to the point where she can enjoy herself and her family once her grieving is over.

My father-in-law has left us and because of my faith, I know he is in the best place he can be now. We, his family, are left here on earth to mourn him, celebrate his life and continue living our lives as he would want us to, while always remembering him. In order to do so, we need my mother-in-law in a safe and healthy living arrangement for her remaining years. This is my prayer.

Thanks.
Tom
