Little update on my Grandma, she is in a kind of limbo I think. She is completely paralysed down her left side and although knows us and can still speak a little... is most often sleeping very deeply. She has taken some nourishment, and is in quite a bit of pain and discomfort when awake.
Up until a few nights ago, I was working/doing the mum thing in the day time and then with Grandma until around 2 or 3 in the morning. I was just getting completely worn out though, so am now getting home by about 10:00pm at night.
I have been decorating her room during the evenings... even if she can't see it, her visitors and the staff can. My Nana has been to visit Grandma a few more times and I am getting some lovely photos of them together.

...at an advanced age like your Grandmother's, it is completely normal for her to sleep long and long...her body has suffered many insults, and rest/sleep is the only way that the body has to combat same...the many systems do their best work when there is little other stimulus to redirect their attention...gently urge her to eat what she can because her "engine" needs fuel....I wish I could offer a positive about the pain and discomfort, but one way to look at it-is the body hasn't shut down and she's still feeling....you are a wonder Ms Flake and I admire your love and support...that will help more than any notions or potions that medical science can provide....Little update on my Grandma, she is in a kind of limbo I think. Prayers for all of you, and a hand to hold if you need it.Just stopping by to ask for prayers. MIL is in the hospital with not long to live, so soon after her husband passed. I'm heartbroken for my husband who adores his mom. Thanks.
continued prayersA quick update. MIL has been transferred from hospital to a skilled nursing facility. Death is not as imminent as first thought. Now they are saying 3-6 months. Diagnosis is advanced stage Alzheimer's and lung cancer, also at and advanced stage. The cancer is a surprise to all of f us. Either it went undiagnosed or she was diagnosed and told no one. A geriatric doctor will be doing and evaluation on her in the next day or so. Right now she is comfortable, starting to eat liquids and puréed foods and somewhat lucid. My husband arrived in CA today, so he is there with his brother. Mom recognizes them both. That's a comfort.
Thanks to everyone for the prayers and love. It means the world to me.

Let's all send many healing vibes to our dear Tet member who was involved in an accident yesterday. And while we are at it, send a thank you that he is still with us.
