Sitting in the ER with The Man, waiting for him to be seen. Trimming tree and a branch came down on his head. He has a piece of wood lodged right above his left eyebrow. When he touched it you can see it wiggling right next to the inner corner of his eye. Fun times. InstaCare wouldn't even touch it. So here we sit. Hoping for an x-ray instead of a CT scan - bit less expensive.
That's scary. Hope all is well ♥

We were laughing about it at the hospital! The doc was sort of a curmudgeon (not really surprising in an ER), but the nurses and helper guy (not sure what they're called) thought we were funny. After almost 30 years together we can find the humor in just about anything :) The best was the intake nurse: she was going through the standard questions (name, addy, birthdate, height, etc), clearly trying not to stare at the stick poking out of Mark's forehead. She asked him his weight, then couldn't resist asking, "Does it hurt?" Mark deadpans, "Being fat?" (he's not really--just dad-plump, as my girls say) I've never seen a nurse laugh so hard! We were laughing, too :) She twice came to find us back in the rooms, just to check on how Mark was doing and to snort laugh a little more. I think he made a new friend :)
...see, you guys are the the type of folken we nurses love to deal with.....we thrive on the offbeat.....

You are an amazing couple to find laughter in that situation. Glad to hear all is well. (Your health care costs just boggle my
mind).

Today...
I got up and make a yummy breakfast (my seriously delicious pancakes-from-scratch with lots of thick bacon on the side). Then cleaned the kitchen just in time for hubby to mess it up again mixing up meatballs for dinner.
Cleaned the kitchen again, then lunch (leftovers - I wasn't making more mess than I had too). Now he's making the bread dough so I'll be cleaning up again shortly.
When I feel like complaining, I just think about the good food we're lucky to have.

Nasty stick/thick splinter--about 2" long--but the doc was able to pull it out without major mess. Irrigated it well, dressed the wound, and prescribed antibiotics. $250 ER copay this close to Christmas isn't a joy, but it's good to have it taken care of :) I wish I would have taken a picture before they pulled it out--it looked weird--but I took one right after. Unfortunately, it's coming out HUGE here--lol. If I can figure out how to make it smaller, I'll post it.

Glad all is ok!

....meh....I'd kvetch anyway...it's the responsibility of every grumpy old fart...

Well - wish me luck - I have some hair dye and I am going to use it!

Normally I go to my hairdresser and 70 or 80 bucks later I get to admire her handiwork - maybe it is the full moon or the fact I have had a whole week off - whatever - here goes nothing!

If it turns out really really bad I will call in to work and say I cannot come in tomorrow due to a hair dye catastrophe - hmmm - wonder if they'll buy that story? :facepalm_smiley::big_grin::inspect:

You can do it!!!
When time and money were in short supply, I colored my own hair quite a few times - and it's down to my butt.
Not easy and very messy but the end result wasn't bad. Good luck!

Good luck, Neesy! I do my own roots. I use a foam type product and it does a great job. Wear an old shirt you don't care to mess up and if you do get any dye on your skin, nail polish remover on a Q-tip should take it right off!=D
