Somewhere over the rainbow
Last time that I met a group of people from this Board
I was with my sisters and we instantly adored
Everybody that we met (as I was sure we would.)
Now we're thinking that this King Convention's sounding good.

King Con 2018's being held in Bangor, ME...
That's just up the road from us. I'd have to be insane
If I didn't take the chance to meet the people who
I have come to like so much - So, we'll be coming, too.
:)

;-D Well, there's a really convenient and reasonably priced bus from Logan Airport (Boston) to Bangor. Gas prices in Boston look like they're hovering around the $2/gallon price today but there's a lot of mileage between there and NC. It's roughly a 12 hour drive from Boston to North Carolina but that's just to the border--she'd have to figure out how long from there to her friend's in NC. Still might be worth checking into flights and then a rental car once she's in the area.

Ah. That's very good to know, cheers.
I think she'll definitely want to go for the internal flight + local rental option given the length of the trip down to NC and that (IIRC) her friends are around the Charlotte area. Then of course there's the issue of never having driven on US roads before.
(Seems like fuel in Boston are around 35p a litre. I was a mere lad the last time petrol cost so little over here! Even a packet of crisps costs more than that, these days.)

Only thing that comes immediately to mind is Oriental Jade but I usually only do take-out from them so don't know if they even still do a buffet. We can add that to the to do list to figure out between now and July '18.
Is that the place with the creepy fortune cookies?

Well if it helps, I drove roughly 5000 miles round rip when I came to Bangor last time. My Accord averaged around 35mpg. With the prices at the time, I spent about $425 total for gas for the trip. North Carolina is 9-10 hours from me.
5000 miles! Yikes - you must really love driving :monkey::m_cruise:

Fer Gawd's sake! I typed 'is'! What is it with bloody Macs and 'You typed this, so of course it got corrected to that even though you were right in the first place, but now look like a plonker'?!
We don't think you're a plonker. By the way, my Scottish husband has gotten used to driving on the right side of the road, so you guys will be fine.

Neesy, first you cross the rainbow, then you hang a right.
Find the stars and journey towards the second one all night...
When you reach the border between Granite State and Bay
Look along the side where baseball's Boston Red Sox play.

I know I said Bangor is just up the road from me...
Should have added I was speaking metaphoric'ly
We're about 4 hours south and so, compared to some,
We're much closer than a lot of those who plan to come.

....I am so stoked to meet you dear!....only question I have is, do you speak the same way?......cuz if'n ya do, this here Yankee has to work on his rhyme tyme.....
I am also looking forward to our meeting Scott
And I only rhyme when sober... Thus, I drink - a lot.
Since you've volunteered to head this monumental task
If I can do anything to help, you've but to ask.

:)
