They couldn't fulfill their vilest crime in the secrecy of the night behind locked doors and closed curtains and even if they scarred me and made me overwrought for life I got them in their restless, eternal slumber. -A.S.

Let us make up our own quotes. They can be dramatic, silly, colourful, etc. Here is mine:

My thoughts were like scrims of greasy soapsuds in a drained sink.

It's not mine but I'm going to use it anyway, because it will remind me of a wonderful thing about the person who said it: "As long as there's life there's hope."
My daughter's dad used to say it whenever I felt hopeless.

My daughter's dad used to say it whenever I felt hopeless.

And it's usually equally true the other way around. Once all the hope is lost we tend to die with a whimper.

Three:
Lord, give me coffee to change the things I can change, and wine to accept the things I can't.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.
A true friend is one who will show up with a spade and a shovel and never ask questions.
I have heard of them before, i just can't be my finger on it. it's 9:00 am here. still asleep

"good could be done but only in the tiniest of increments and for the briefest of moments. evil, on the other hand, was boundless and could be made to last over millennia, again all because of the taloned and bloody-mouthed human beast."

It's a message board, folks. Mind your manners when dealing with others. If you get ruffled, shake it off and keep moving. It's not like much here matters, or should matter, to us personally.

I'm pretty sure I've posted this in another thread somewhere, but here's something I coined and I always tell people:

Always assume everyone you meet is going to be a complete a-hole. That way you're never disappointed, only pleasantly surprised.

I heard something similar when learning to drive, which can be summed up as "always assume everyone on the road is a mental defective. Don't assume they'll stop at a red light or a stop sign, don't assume they'll signal, don't assume they'll do anything sane." As harsh as it sounds, it's saved me from being part of a few pile ups or getting into a dangerous situation.

Yup. That's what kept me alive on a motorcycle for 40+ years.
