There's got to be some MacGyver thing with cat litter. Or, perhaps you stuff the corpse of your loved one with it until they pick them up to make Soylent Green.
Have not tried any of the suggestions in the article - but here you go........

I just got back from the grocery store. Didn't need much, more fresh things that I don't buy in advance to keep it from spoiling like you said Moderator . I tend to be one of these people before the virus who is always stocked up with things. Those Mormons have rubbed off on me in that way. So I'm sitting good.

But, I only had a couple of boxes of cat litter in my garage and decided while I was there to pick up another. WTH!!!! The cat litter aisle was pretty much decimated! What the hell is everyone doing with cat litter? And the aisle in my grocery store is pretty substantial to begin with. I did get a box but it isn't our normal so hope my two finicky a**holes use it.

I always try to keep a 2 weeks supply of things on hand but this crisis is making me rethink the list and at least 1 item that I need to add to my list after this is over. I didn't have toilet paper on my list of things to have extra of. So I will keep a little extra on hand after this. Even during hurricane preparations, I've never seen a run on toilet paper so it was never on my radar as something that would be hard to get.

My cousin has a dog and she said pet food is getting in shorter supply here, too, so maybe just a lot of pet owners who are hoarding the cat litter along with pet food.
Locally, pet supplies are getting low in stock. Placed a large order via on line company and will see if it gets delivered.
On side note- this stocking up is really hurting a pay ck to pay ck budget.

I buy those big Costco, We-Sh*t-A-Lot packages. So, I've got plenty unless the cats start using it.

Craziness. Just dropped off the youngest at a bus terminal so she can get back to college and pack everything up. I’ll then pick her up at my allotted slot on Thursday. They want me in and out as fast as possible. The university has shut down for most everything and there will only be online classes going forward. She goes year round to college and it now looks like she won’t be able to return until September at this point. Over 25% of the college student body consists of international students, and many are from China, so it’s crazy mad trying to find a way home for all of them or find other types of accommodations. On top of that they now have students who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are having them self-isolate at the university as of now. So I packed up the kid with hand sanitizer, face masks and toilet paper that should last her a couple of days.

And in our state the liquor stores are owned by the state. They’re shutting them down at 9pm tonight for at least two weeks. It truly is the END OF THE WORLD!

Our local Randall's grocery store closed in January, so we participated in the liquidation sale and were already well stocked up on many things before the crisis hit. One thing we went looking for specifically and didn't find was powdered milk -- but I did eventually find some at HEB online for delivery. I'm working from home for the next two to three weeks. We're enjoying cooking meals, but that's something we do a lot anyway. A friend of mine introduced me to his pizza making course and we've been getting a lot of mileage out of that. I feel bad for the small businesses and restaurants, though. If this goes on for a couple of months, it's going to be a whole new world on the other end of it.

Don't laugh but one emergency food I keep around that maybe no one else thinks of is popcorn (regular popcorn not microwave :)) . It doesn't go bad and it doesn't take up much room (until you pop it). This is not a good food for when the power goes out but as long as we have power, it works.
Got propane and propane accessories?
:) ;)

Things are drastically different than when we left off last week. Pretty scary.

We have 10 cases in Wyoming now. The 7 new cases are from same place as case #2. No cases in my town or county yet.

City Hall, the rec center and event center are all closed down. Our kids are on spring break this week so while the Governor has advised school districts close down and many in the state have, our district is taking advantage of spring break before making a decision. Where Evan works, starting today, the drive thru will be open regular hours all day, but the lobby will only be open 11-2 and 5-8. Library is open but all extras have been cancelled, like meetings or story time, those kinds of things.

I have a feeling Evan is not going to have a graduation ceremony. And we are pulling Alison from her DC trip.

I am going to attempt grocery shopping tomorrow.

Everyone stay safe. :love_heart:

This might be a bit cynical but this whole situation reminds me of a qoute from the Joker.

"When the chips are down, these civilised people ... normal people ... they'll eat each other, see, I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve."

The Joker was more than right.
