Well, as most of my friends on this board know, I did not intend to read this until Christmas. A few days ago, a few family members came to the city in order to take in a couple of shows and do some Christmas shopping. When they returned from the West Edmonton Mall they were all aglow because they purchased a copy of Revival for me. I did not have the heart to say I could not read it right away. Plus, they actually handed it to me. What is a girl to do,eh? So I read it, of course....I am a great host. These are my thoughts about the book.
Uncle Steve I loved most of the book. It was comforting and well written...like all your books. I do not want to rant at you because of the ending and will not do so. You have a right to do what you want with your characters. My atitude about the last part of the book was more confusion than dislike, though. The lovely story I was reading appeared to turn into an underbugeted B movie before my very eyes! I could almost see the zippers on the backs of their fake costumes. I would not be surprised if the director turned out of be Lovecraft. Maybe, there's the rub. I dislike Lovecraft. I was startled when the story started in this direction. I heard the crash of my disbelief falling to ground...no longer suspended. Oh well, we cannot like everything. It is the way we are wired. Your writing ability was perfect, as usual. So aside from the ending, thank you for a great read. Looking forward to the next one.
