10 Years in same job !!!

Hi all
Work had a morning tea for me and another lady today as we have both done 10 years. We got flowers, cake, a big thankyou card and a $100 gift card. I work for Coles supermarket a big company in Australia that has lots of businesses and about 800 supermarkets.
I also get 8 weeks long service leave.
I can't believe that I've been their that long.
How long have you been in your job?

Congratulations on your ten year anniversary! November 1, 2017 marked my 29th year working for Steve. I envy your 8 weeks leave time. I still only get 4 weeks.

Congratulations! Eight weeks long service leave is all good. I work in the pharmaceutical industry and I’ve been with the firm for over fifteen years now (possibly not for much longer though). Glad to hear they’re looking after you.

I had 18 years in at a former employer. All I, and 200+ of my colleagues, got was laid off during the companies second most profitable year. You are lucky to work for an organization that values it's employees.

Had something similar a couple years ago but we only got a $25 gift card (I think maybe a gold pin too, and a certificate)


I could not make it to the ceremony as I was sick;

However, one thing we get at HSC is an extra week after being there 10 years, so five weeks vay-cay

I think you get a lot more perks where you are

I stayed in the same job at a large company for 17 years. I quit to be closer to my family. But 17 years wasn't long enough to get them to hire me back. I won't say the name of the company, but it was in the financial industry. Now I work in health care.

8 weeks vacation? That's wonderful! I worked for the city for almost 20 years and all I got was 4 weeks I would have been happier working the lousy hours I worked if I had gotten 8 weeks vacation

I've been in my fast food job for four years now.

I've booked holidays for April, 2 and half weeks, that's just my normal holiday leave. I'm going to keep my 8 weeks and not use them. I might need the time off work if I get sick again. The union has done quite a lot here in Australia for workers regarding holiday leave etc.
