How long does it usually take for people to start talking about making a book into a movie? I know it was not too long with 11/22/63, will this one be turned into a movie? I couldn't help but think while I was reading it that this seems almost like it was written with a movie adaptation in the very forefront of his mind.

Joyland could be an excellent movie.

If a movie is ever made I would like to see Laura Fraser (Lydia in Breaking Bad) in the role of Annie.

If I remember correctly, they started working on the film Christine before the book was even published? Film rights to The Talisman was snatched up before the book was published also.

What sometimes happens is that his film agent will shop a book once the manuscript is finished and a publication date has been decided but before it is available to the public.

Yeppers. And this was back in the '80's when King books were the hottest properties in La-la Land....

Is 11.22.63 getting made into a movie??? That would have to be one either very long movie, or one with lots cut out!

J.J. Abrams has optioned the rights but it's currently slated for a television series/miniseries not a theater release.

I could see this being another Stand by Me or Shawshank Redemption in the right director's hands. I cannot rave enough about Joyland. As the days go by, it becomes more and more one of my favorite books of his. It is so well written and such a wonderful story.

Frank Darabont maybe? He did such a fantastic job on the Green Mile, and although I have never seen it, he also made Shawshank Redemption, which I know is considered something of a masterpiece.

I loved Joyland, it just flew by for me.
