Why didn't anything happen to Henry Bower after he broke Eddie Kaspbrak's arm? He told the police Henry did it, but he went unpunished.

I wondered the same thing when I read it. My interpretation is it's partly due to the dark force that's blinding the eyes of the town. The children are voiceless and without an advocate. I don't know, though. Why didn't anything happen to Henry Bower after he broke Eddie Kaspbrak's arm? He told the police Henry did it, but he went unpunished.
...pretty much Frank-you and Doc distilled the gist of it.....Hmm, wasn't this one the weird side of Derry, that no Adult gives a **** about the kids and what happened to them ?!
I'm sorry, but that doesn't make any sense, friend.

...it’s just one of my goofy attempts at a welcome pardner....no sense intended....I'm sorry, but that doesn't make any sense, friend.

I won't make a big deal about this because in the end, the master has spoken. BUT. I grew up in the 50s and as loose as things were in those days i.e. a swat team would respond if a M80 went off today, if a known bully would have broken my arm there would be consequences. It might only be a stern warning, but SOMETHING would have happened. Thanks all for responding.
I really didn't see that though, that the police played favorites in that instance.. of course back in the fifties and sixties a lot of kid fights were just settled by the cops separating them, giving them a scolding and talking to the parents.. this one went above to the point of a kid getting his arm broken, so that is why he would have gotten an appearance ticket. Some stuff did happen. Don't forget that Victor and Belch both had to bail on Bowers early. There was trouble, serious trouble over Eddie. We just don't get the details. Of course you also have to take into account that while Bowers wasn't generally liked anymore than his father, Victor and Belch were sons of fairly liked people. Eddie is just a sick kid with a weird mother. Clout plays in to how the police react.
