This might have affected Stephen's imagination a little... If you drove about a mile north of Stephen's home (when he was a teen,) you would come to "Runaround Pond"... Now Runaround Pond was not really a pond, but more like a canal, reminiscent of the south Florida straight canals. Fishing it by boat, starting at the rock cliff entrance, we never ever got to the end of it. There were rumors that there were giant three foot pickerals (like the Lake Michigan pike/muskelunge fish) in the Pond. Rarely did a Pickeral from Maine ever get even close to twelve inches, but no one had ever seen these huge, giant fish they talked about ...... but one time my Dad hooked into one once. It pulled the 14 foot aluminum boat around. I could see terror on my Dad's face as he tried to at least reel in enough to see this montrosity. The giant fish bent out the hook, as it churned up the water, but we never did see it. We left and never went back.

Holy Mackeral....er...Pickeral! There's a story in that story!
Really happened too !!!! We had gone up Runaround Pond a mile or two and never came to any bridge or road, or any sign of human life.... surrounded by tall marshes.....Kind of like you were heading off into eternity .... would have been a long swim back,,,,,,

lol ... well we HAVE caught them about twice that size at Tacoma Lake...... Your's isn't even a "keeper" (sorry) ,,, at least ours were edible ... We also used to fish Sebago Lake and always would catch a land-locked fresh-water Salmon trolling close to Frye Island .... Good cooking mmmmmmm (miss my Maine Lobster --- When we could catch an income lobster boat, they were $1 apiece) Frank-ly Realistic
