Hi,
A newbie to this forum but not Stephen King! Will Stephen ever come to Australia? I thought I may get to travel over there but unfortunately due to circumstances that won’t ever happen. I’m not the type to be star struck by famous people, couldn’t care less! My life has been made so much better by Stephens books though, even at times when I had nothing else. (Even when I knew nothing about myself I knew I loved his stories) It may be far fetched but meeting the man himself is a dream of mine. I know the chances are minimal, and I don’t really believe it will happen but I have to put it out into the universe just in case! Cos stranger things HAVE happened right?!

He's been to Australia twice, although more personal visits. He nearly got arrested in a book store for defacing property until he proved he really was Stephen King and was just signing some of his books and putting them back on the shelf so some lucky fan would get a signed copy. It's not impossible but unlikely he'll be back, though.

I'd like to invite him to visit Boone, NC. We don't have a bookstore per se, but I have several bookshelves full of his work.....and I wouldn't even call the cops if I caught him signing them! :D

I loved it when he did that...

Moderator Tell Stephen that I'll forgive him if he's just feeling a bit too tired to drop in on Aussie when he comes to see me in New Zealand. ( ;;D )
And Marsha, it's okay to drug him so that you won't have to listen to his "Awww M, I hate flying!" whining on the trip here. :biggrin2:

Very cool fact nugget! Thanks for that Ms. Mod. Fits in perfectly with what kind of man I think him to be.

I believe he made a guest talk at either Angus and Robertson or Dymock's book store in George Street, Sydney, in 1997, which I should have gone too. That would have been great, I think it was unannounced. I knew someone that worked there. One of the best 19th century arcades is the Strand Arcade down the road which made you feel like your're in 1870. I read somewhere that he traveled across Australia on motorbike, like in the movie Desperation.

Yes, he was on a Harley I think. (& I think... but don't quote me) that Joe went with him.
